Amazing transit tour in Addis Ababa - I highly recommend Merit for transit tours of Addis Ababa. I just had one day in Ethiopia on a layover and their fantastic itinerary gave me an excellent overview of the country's history/culture and its capitol city. Communication both with Merit and my guide was prompt and smooth. We did everything on the stated itinerary and they were able to add in some requested customizations I ask for. As a sole female traveler, I felt very safe and comfortable throughout my tour. I would not hesitate to use them in the future when traveling to Ethiopia. All in all, a great way to do a lot if you have limited time.

Great day out in Addis Ababa - Had a fantastic day with Biruk the guide and Addis the driver. Really enjoyed the whole day but going to the local market was the highlight. All the activity was so wonderful to watch. The coffee ceremony wasn't what I was expecting and something everyone coming to Ethiopia should experience.

Awesome tour! You should definitely check this out! - Very nice tour, Deresse as a tour guide really passionate explaining anything about ethiopia. If you're really into cultural stuff this tour is the perfect tour, to get to know Ethiopia. Also the driver is very nice, they both are so patient & passionate, they gave us choices to choose, bcs i went there during ethiopian Christmas day so a lot of places closed, but we still had the good time! Overall i had a great time!

Great tour to visit Addis Ababa - We had a long layover in Addis and decided to get out for a city tour. The organization of the tour was all seamless. We were picked up at the airport by our guide Biruk. We instantly made friends. The tour was adjusted to us and flexible if we wanted to do something specific. Biruk had a great knowledge of the city and we felt safe going around. Definitely recommend if you are visiting Addis.

Must Do - This was a GREAT TOUR. Biruk was our tour guide and he was very knowledgeable about the Ethiopian culture. He was kind and patient. He assisted us in getting better prices on gifts we purchased. I love this guys spirit. You can tell he loves his job. We are from the US and all the things we learned about Ethiopia were false, go and see for yourself. This tour was done on a layover and worth every penny. My favorite part of this tour was the coffee ceremony. We felt welcomed and felt the love.

Very interesting tour of Addis Ababa - My tour of Addis Ababa with Biruk was excellent! It was especially nice that he had a driver who could drop us off to look at something and pick us up when we were ready, so finding parking wasn’t necessary. Biruk was very giving of his time and knowledge—which is extensive, of the city and its cultures. I really enjoy walking through the markets—Biruk was very “protective,” and the coffee being made and sampling the local food was fun. The museum at the university is fascinating. We did an extra stop at a pottery making facility, which was so interesting. It was a great tour and helped make my visit to Addis Ababa great! I absolutely recommend it.

Incredible Ethiopia - My partner and I had a 10hr layover in Addis Ababa and booked this tour to see as much of the city as we could. Our guide and driver, Biruk and Addis, were so knowledgeable and kind, and Muluken, the owner, was very easy to contact. We saw so many beautiful places and learnt so much. The highlight was the coffee ceremony at a local's house, where we were warmly welcomed by a lovely family and had the best coffee of our lives. I can't recommend this tour enough - it was safe, reliable and a great way to spend a day.

Make sure the car has AirCon before you leave! - First, my guide, Biruk was very good. He was friendly and knowledgeable and very pleasant. As was the driver, Addis. However, the tour description clearly said it included an air-conditioned car. When I asked them to turn it on, they clearly were a bit confused as to how to even use it, and then it turns out it that the aircon didn't work and only blew out hot air. With the windows closed, it was very hot in the car, with the windows open, we were constantly choked by exhaust fumes and dust from passing buses and trucks. This made the trip unpleasant. Also, the description also said that the coffee ceremony and lunch was included. At the end of this however, my guide suggested I leave the woman a generous tip. I generally have no problem leaving a tip but you should say clearly that tipping is expected and not included. I tipped the guide and driver and expected to do that, but I would have expected that they would have tipped the coffee woman. Especially for how much I paid for the day.
