We begin our journey in the charming town of Auburn, known for its heritage-listed stone structures and cellar doors. We sample artisanal wines from Clare Valley’s smaller vineyards, browse curated collections in local antique shops, and enjoy a delicious morning tea.
Our itinerary also includes a visit to Mintaro, a town steeped in history. Explore its historical landmarks— a pub, a post office and various shops — or tour the Georgian-inspired Martindale Hall, an 1880’s sandstone mansion.
Next, we head to Sevenhill Cellars, the birthplace of Clare Valley’s winemaking tradition, and one of Australia’s oldest wineries. Experience their traditional stone winery and cellar door, wander around the lush gardens, and sample some of their internationally acclaimed wines.
Our lunch stop is the enchanting Skillogalee restaurant, where we dine under olive groves and enjoy a main dish and a glass of wine. Time allowing, we will also pay a visit to Kilikanoon Wines for a taste of their exquisite wines.
We finish our day with an afternoon tea at the venerable Kapunda Hotel before heading back to Adelaide.
