Embark with me on a trip through history in North Lefkosia, the final partitioned metropolis where exploring the narrow lanes of the antique city is akin to stepping back into a bygone period. Our journey commences in the ancient municipality located in the Arab Ahmet division; this region originally consisted of 12 sectors shortly after the Ottoman invasion of Nicosia in 1570 and was densely populated by Armenian Cypriots post the conquest. The locale is steeped in an intoxicating aura of the past, making it one of the most intriguing quarters to wander in Nicosia. Treading on our trail, we’ll make stops at the Arab Ahmet Mosque and proceed to Buyuk Khan in Cyprus. We shall advance our exploration by proceeding towards the marketplace and visiting the eminent historical site in the antique city: St. Sophia Cathedral, presently referred to as Selimiye Mosque. We conclude our expedition at the Indoor Market, sparing some time for you to discover the extraordinary local produce before we head back. Please acknowledge that at least two participants are necessary.
