Our day began with a sense of excitement as we set off to explore the Kourtaliotiko Gorge. As a family, we love immersing ourselves in nature, and this gorge promised an adventure like no other. The kids were thrilled to spot the waterfalls cascading down the rocks, and the sound of the wind echoing through the gorge was mesmerizing.

The hike through the gorge was a perfect blend of challenge and beauty. It took us about 25 minutes to descend to the waterfall, and the kids were little troopers, eager to explore every nook and cranny. We took our time, soaking in the unspoiled beauty and spotting wildlife along the way. The ascent back up was equally rewarding, and we felt a sense of accomplishment as we reached the top, ready for the next part of our adventure.

After our invigorating hike, it was time to unwind by the sea. We had the option to visit either Preveli Beach or Kalypso Beach, each offering its unique charm. We opted for Preveli Beach, drawn by the allure of the Preveli Palm Forest and the promise of a freshwater river meeting the sea.

The descent to the beach was a short 12-minute walk, and the view that greeted us was nothing short of paradise. The kids were ecstatic, splashing in the crystal-clear waters and building sandcastles on the golden sand. The lush surroundings and the exotic beauty of the beach made it a perfect spot for relaxation and family bonding. We spent hours enjoying the tranquility, with the kids exploring the palm forest and discovering hidden treasures along the shore.

Savoring Cretan Flavors in Plakias

As the sun began to set, we made our way to the charming village of Plakias for a well-deserved lunch. The village exuded a laid-back atmosphere, and we were welcomed with open arms at a cozy taverna. The authentic Cretan dishes were a delight, and we savored every bite while enjoying stunning sea views.

The kids loved trying new flavors, and the friendly locals made us feel right at home. It was the perfect way to end our day, reflecting on the memories we had created and the beauty we had experienced.
