Agra is renowned as a major tourist hotspot owing to its numerous buildings from the Mughal era, particularly the Tāj Mahal, Agra Fort, and Fatehpūr Sikrī, three sites recognized as UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
Located in Uttar Pradesh state in northern India, Agra houses the famous Taj Mahal, a mausoleum constructed for the wife of Mughal ruler Shah Jahan, Mumtaz Mahal, who passed away during childbirth in 1631. The grandiose main structure showcases a large dome and exquisitely carved white marble inlaid with precious gems. This is situated behind a reflecting pool within a courtyard marked by 4 minarets.
