• Fatehpur Sikri - Located 38 km from the city, it takes about an hour to drive from Agra to Fatehpur Sikri. It served as the capital of the Mughal Empire from 1571 to 1585 during Akbar’s reign, before being abandoned, likely due to a lack of water. It was originally the kingdom of the Sikarwar Rajput kings, who later settled in the nearby Kheragarh and Morena districts of Madhya Pradesh. Fatehpur Sikri is an excellent example of Muslim architecture. The Fatehpur Sikri Mosque is said to be a replica of the Mecca Mosque, with designs influenced by Hindu and Parsi architecture.
