Taj Mahal - Upon arrival, you will visit the Taj Mahal, the mausoleum of Mumtaz Mahal, the former wife of Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan. This magnificent white marble mausoleum was constructed in Agra between 1631 and 1648 by the order of Shah Jahan in memory of his wife. The Taj Mahal is a jewel of Muslim art in India and a universally admired masterpiece of world heritage. Located along the banks of the River Yamuna, the Taj Mahal spans nearly 42 acres. It is believed that the emperor chose this particular spot for its peaceful and soothing ambiance.
As one of the seven wonders of the world, it stands as a tribute to eternal love, leaving all visitors in awe at the first sight of this marble marvel.
- Agra Fort - After visiting the Taj Mahal, enjoy lunch at one of Agra’s finest restaurants, then proceed to Agra Fort. Commissioned by the great Mughal Emperor Akbar in 1565, the fort is a classic example of Mughal architecture. It effectively demonstrates how the northern Indian style of fort construction differed from that of the south, where most forts, like the one at Bekal in Kerala, were built on the seabed.
If desired, you can continue to the Baby Taj (Itmad-ud-Daulah) (optional).
- New Delhi - Later, drive back to Delhi, where the driver will drop you off at the airport or your onward destination.
