Arrival in Ahuachapan

As a seasoned surfer, I’ve spent countless hours chasing the perfect wave along the sun-drenched coasts of Central America. But this time, I decided to trade my surfboard for a more tranquil experience. My wife and I arrived in Ahuachapan, El Salvador, eager to explore the renowned hot springs of Santa Teresa. The moment we stepped off the plane, we were greeted by the warm smiles of our guides, Joshy and William. Their enthusiasm was infectious, and we knew we were in for an unforgettable adventure.

Our journey began with a scenic drive through the lush landscapes of El Salvador. Joshy, our knowledgeable guide, shared fascinating stories about the region’s history and culture, while William expertly navigated the winding roads. As we approached the hot springs, the anticipation grew. I could almost feel the rejuvenating waters calling my name.

Immersed in Relaxation

Upon arrival at the Santa Teresa hot springs, we were immediately captivated by the natural beauty surrounding us. The property boasted over 20 pools, each filled with sulphuric waters that promised to soothe our weary bodies. As I slipped into the warm embrace of the first pool, I felt an overwhelming sense of calm wash over me. The stresses of travel melted away, leaving only pure relaxation in their wake.

The highlight of our visit was undoubtedly the view of one of Central America’s largest geysers. Watching the geyser erupt against the backdrop of the vibrant landscape was a sight to behold. We indulged in a luxurious spa treatment, complete with a massage that left us feeling utterly rejuvenated. It was a welcome change from the adrenaline-fueled days spent riding waves.

A Memorable Farewell

As our time at the hot springs came to an end, we reflected on the incredible experiences we had shared with Joshy and William. Their genuine warmth and hospitality had made us feel like part of their family. On our last day, they surprised us with a thoughtful gesture—a small celebration for my wife’s birthday, complete with balloons and a sweet treat. It was a touching reminder of the kindness we had encountered throughout our journey.

Leaving Ahuachapan was bittersweet. We had fallen in love with the region’s natural beauty and the warmth of its people. As we boarded our flight home, we promised ourselves that we would return to this enchanting corner of the world. Until then, the memories of our time at the Santa Teresa hot springs would remain etched in our hearts, a testament to the magic of El Salvador.
