The jewels of the heavens showed to their best. - My husband is a massive amateur astronomer. We have a telescope at home. This guide Luca was brilliant, his knowledge care and explanations were in depth and his knowledge, blows my mind. The night sky was seeing the jewels of heaven sparkling for us. Luca explained so much more than just an average trip, he is passionate about the environment having a future sky for our generations to be able to see. I never knew light pollution was so much of a problem. His telescope enabled us to see Uranus! The first time I have seen it! And the so much more. The jewel box, the Magellan clouds, of course Jupiter and Saturn. So much more at this point I can’t remember! Yes it was cold, but if you dress appropriately and Luca had hot chocolate, tea and blankets. It was very cosy. But i think seeing all the stars made it the most wonderful night. I saw so much and it was so clear, it makes you aware of light pollution and wanting to come back every year. Akaroa was better than the others we have been too, as it was just us called date night. The pricing was competitive and the place is a piece of paradise anyway. You could stay there it was a great town, with the most beautiful bay.

Don't miss being blown away by Akaroa Stargazing - A fantastic night, Akaroa Stargazing was a fantastic experience - Lucas was so interesting, his depth of knowledge was incredible, and his humour was infectious. We learnt so much about the night sky, and are telling our friends to go when they are next in Akaroa.

Absolutely brilliant star gazing activity. - I had an absolutely outstanding experience with Luca looking at the stars from the Heritage Park on Akaroa. To my amazement he offered the tour even though I was here on my own at a quiet time of the year. His knowledge and enthusiasm were both exceptional, I learned such a lot and it was thoroughly enjoyable throughout. Hot drinks, blankets and a chair were all available but I was so captivated I only needed the blanket! The telescope was so powerful I got to see a range of phenomena that were explained to me beautifully, ending with Saturn and the moon. I highly recommend the tour to anyone with or without an interest in the night sky as it was definitely awe-inspiring and very high quality. .

Brilliant tour that will leave you in awe of the night sky. Not to be missed! - This tour is a must for anyone curious about the stars or the night sky. Luca has an amazing knowledge of the southern sky and makes the experience most impressive. We were lucky that during our tour, not only did we get to see some incredible stars but the Aurora Australis put on quite a show as well. It was remarkable how much we were able to see and learn due to this tour being so well organised. Thank you Luca and Akaroa Stargazing for a night we'll never forget.

Star gazing in Akaroa - Very informative - Luca was a great host. Well worth going and he made it a personal experience. Would go again and would definitely recommend it.

Family night under the stars - We were visiting from US and the North Island and got to see the stars on a very clear winter night. Luca was a great host, explaining the southern night sky, the life cycle of stars, relationship of human-produced light on the environment, and distances across space and time. A few notes for those that might be considering this: 1) Definitely worth the experience 2) When making a reservation, the address that google extracts from the confirmation is different than the meeting place for the tour, so check the instructions and don't trust the google address. 3) The night can be cold- Luca has blankets and hot drinks, but as you are still for most of the experience, bundle up if going in the winter 4) Children under 5 are not supposed to come- We did not see this in advance, so I was there with my baby and since it was just our family in the group, we all went together, but I would have been very dissappointed to have missed this if she was not allowed in. 5) Definitely worth the experience Enjoy your place in the stars!
