Godafoss - A 35-minute drive brings us to the stunning Godafoss waterfall, where we spend 40 minutes admiring the breathtaking scenery.
Dimmuborgir Lava Formations - From Godafoss, we drive 40 minutes to the Lake Myvatn area, traveling alongside the picturesque lake on our way to the Dimmuborgir lava fields. At Dimmuborgir, we enjoy a leisurely hike through the lava maze, stopping for approximately 50 minutes.
Dettifoss Waterfall - After a pleasant stop at Dimmuborgir, we drive for an hour to the awe-inspiring Dettifoss waterfall. Known as the most powerful waterfall in Europe, it cascades into a deep canyon, shaking the ground around it. We pause at the falls for an hour before returning to the Lake Myvatn area.
Namafjall Hverir - From Dettifoss, we drive 40 minutes to Hverir (Namafjall). This area features bubbling sulfur mud pits, steam vents, and fumaroles, showcasing Iceland’s geothermal power. We stop for 20 minutes to appreciate the beauty and unique aroma of this remarkable place.
Akureyri - Finally, we head back to Akureyri, driving through a beautiful landscape with several stops along the way to capture photos of the surrounding scenery.
