This excursion is a blend of treks and scenic views. We commence our journey from Akureyri. Our first halt is at Goðafoss, known as the waterfall of the Gods. We then proceed driving towards Lake Mývatn. We make our next stop at Dettifoss waterfall, known as the second most powerful waterfall in Europe. We then move on to Hljóðaklettar, an ancient series of craters formed by the glacial river Jökulsá. We undertake a hike here for approximately 2 hours amid a unique terrain. After this, we make our way to the seashore where we might get a chance to see some puffins, inhabiting the area from May until the start of August. Our next stopover is for a coffee break at Tungulending, a quaint coffee shop situated on the shore of Skjálfandi bay. From here, we head to Húsavík and spend some time exploring the harbour area. We conclude our journey by driving back to Akureyri. This adventure is designed as a circular route.
