Excellent shore excursion - Terrific tour. Michael was a great guide and the pick up was very easy from the port. We got going early and were able to get to many of the sites before they were crowded. A great alternative to the shore excursions offered from our ship

Don’t Hesitate To Book - Wonderful tour—don’t hesitate to book! Easy pick up and drop off at the port. The bus stops at four incredible natural sites where the guide gives you just the right amount of time to get off and explore on your own. Don’t expect to be led around each stop though—no headsets or handholding.

Natural wonders not to be missed - We visited all 4 of these attractions on a previous land tour visit and were satisfied. Nothing has changed except the impressive tunnel leading out of Akureyri. The drive through the countrside is impressive all by itself. Our first stop was at Lake Myvatn Area for bathrooms and a good view of the lake. The stop could have been about 10 minutes longer but clouds of well known Icelandic gnats were annoying here. Many people wore bug nets. Our second stop was at Myundun Dimmuborga a well organized walking tour on paved paths through an impressive lava field. You might find similar fields in Hawaii but not so well organized and a lot warmer. Next we drove around the lake and off to the Namafjall Hot springs. If you have never seen a geothermal area like this, it will be astonishing but it is on a much smaller scale than you might find in Yellowstone NP in the US. Our guide Itanna was Spanish but easy to understand and obviously knew her material. she was very informative and interesting. Our final stop was at Godafoss Waterfalls. We had bypassed this on the way out because there were too many buses. There was enough time to walk out the trail to the main falls and take lots of pictures but not to cross the bridge and walk out the other side. The main falls is wide and horseshoe shaped like the Canadian falls at Niagra or Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe, but about 1/4 the size. There are additional falls downstream and the whole package is impressive. There is a large gift shop here but the toilets cos $1.45 US (200ISK). All these attractions required considerable walking over uneven ground and we put in over 11000 steps that day. Nothing is close to the place where the bus will park so you need reasonable mobility to get around . At 80 years old, with a left ankle brace and a walking stick, I was fine.

Recommended! - The tour was fantastically guided by enthusiastic girl and fine driver. It was a good change between driving and watching something. Beautiful places she showed us and even for the kids of 11 and 5 years not a minute too long!

A trip to remember - Several viewing areas of the falls. At the top viewing spot, there were 2 rainbows. Also we saw the bubbling magma pots. Went over the mountain and came back through the tunnel. Don’t forget to see the heart shaped street lights in Akureyri.
