The best, dogledding. GoHusky! - What a wonderful experience to take a ride on a dogsled through fresh snow in the forest, by the fjord, under the mountains. Better, you don't know anything about dog sledding until you spend a couple of up close and personal hours with a champion! And the huskies are not just mind bendingy cute, but friendly as! Loved it, highly recommended. No special skills required. Thanks Gunnar, it was brilliant.

A wonderful excursion for dog lovers! Especially if you are missing your dog(s) while you are on vacation. - The owners communicated with our travel agent and us about what the snow conditions would allow for us to do and gave us options based on weather forecast and conditions. Given the way the weather can change quickly there, their excellent communication helped us plan for this activity. From the moment we pulled up, we all were in love with all the dogs and this activity. We honestly could have just had dog snuggle time for hours! That said, we took turns on a private dog sledding run that made core memories for us the parents and our teens. One teen even had a brief turn driving the sled. This area is beautiful and the perspective on the sled was a memorable one. The dogs’ personalities and their obvious love of sledding made us all have permanent smiles. After the sledding we returned for hot chocolate, coffee, dog snuggles and learned about the innovative way dog hair is being reused. I had to buy an ear warmer made from husky hair. A favorite and functional souvenir. We have one dog ( German Shep/lab/husky mix) and one teen is already wondering about making something useful from all his excess hair. We heard about their hikes when snow melts and if we were here in the summer we would absolutely try that.

An amazing morning at GoHusky - Well this was an amazing morning. We were met at our hotel in Akureyri and driven 15 minutes to site. Great conversation about the town and people. On arrival we were met by a chorus of husky dogs. The noise was deafening. Our host gave us a great insight into how they are cared for and we spent a good amount of time playing with the dogs. We then went on an amazing ride through the woods. The dogs were really excited to be running and were well controlled. On our return, we were allowed into the house to see how they live and talk to the owner for quite some time about life living with 20+ huskies. This is a truly fantastic experience. Don't hesitate to try GoHusky.

Just a perfect day. - One of the best days I have ever spent. From the friendly pick up and communication, to the dog sledding and to Gunni sharing his love of their dogs, it was a perfect day. My wife had to drag me back to the hotel!

Private Dog Sledding in Akureyri…Way More Than Sledding - The magic begins with getting there… a few minutes north of Akureyri, almost on the fjord… park your car and the serenade of howling huskies greets you. The next 20 minutes or so you and the dogs meet, and of course you also get introduced to the business owner and what to expect on the sled. BTW, if you thought huskies are all work working dogs, not these. They are very affectionate and playful. Then more magic. You are comfortably seated in the sled, and off you go, with the very experienced musher giving you a wonderful ride thru the woods, with views of the mountains and fjords. And when you return, more magic! The owner takes you into his house for a very welcome hot drink and more opportunities to visit and cuddle with the dogs.

A must do experience! - This is a must do if you are visiting Akureyri - a perfect activity for any dog lover! My husband and I booked the private dogsledding tour early March. Unfortunately we arrived after an unseasonable warm spell and there wasn’t enough snow built up again to sled. However Gunni and Maria got in touch as soon as this was known and offered us lots of alternatives. We opted for a cart run (which is used to train the dogs when there isn’t snow). The cart run was a great experience, and we loved meeting all of the dogs, and seeing where they stay, learning about them. Getting to see their new litter of puppies was a special bonus too! Gunni and Maria were so welcoming and shared so much insight into their life with their husky’s. Their husky’s are so friendly, so well taken care of and so full of character - we loved spending time with them all.

Book this one!!! Great experience!! - This was probably the best tour I have been on in years! They are the kindest people you will ever meet. They took me into their home and showed me the puppies they were raising. They treat their dogs with so much love. They are a wonderful family and knowledgeable about their work. I would do this trip 1000 times over!! I drove 5 hours from Reykjavík just to do this tour and it was totally worth it.

If you want a fabulous experience with Beautiful Huskies and wonderful people you must try GoHusky Iceland.try - Due to weather and flight problems our plans to join Gunnar and his wonderful Huskies had to be changed a number of times. Gunnar was incredibly accommodating and he did everything he could to make this experience work for us. When we arrived there was limited snow but rather than let us down Gunnar and his colleague had been out and ensured there was a track for us to use and improvised with a training sleigh to get us and the dogs over the ice. We were greeted with huge excitement by 18 gorgeous huskies who were all desperate to be chosen to come out on the sleigh with us. Riding through the woods on a husky drawn sleigh was great fun and you could have a turn at leading the dogs. Returning to the house all 18 dogs want your attention and they enjoy playing and allowing you to stroke them. These Huskies are so loved and well cared for, they have the run of the family home as well as constant access to a large outside garden. Gunnar is passionate about what he does and is happy to share his knowledge, and his home with you. I would encourage anyone wanting to have a Husky experience to go to Go Husky! Wonderful dogs and wonderful peoplel Thank you so much Gunnar and team xx
