Whales a plenty - Enjoyed the excursion and saw six or seven whales. Suits provided kept me warm and was able to stay on top of boat for a better view.

Worth ever penny - We saw many minke whales swimming around the boat. The captain arrived at a feeding area teeming with fish, which drew the whales. It was a perfect spot. Everywhere you looked there were whales. Minkes are not jumpers but they were sleek and graceful swimmers. An experience of a lifetime for me. I was ecstatic. We booked on viator for $100 each. The cruise ship charged $300 each for exact same trip on the exact same boat. Viator is a reliable, cost-effective tour organizer. Why pay more to the cruise company?!!

Whale of an experience in Akureyri. - The overall experience met expectations! We had great views of humpback whales feeding near the surface and then diving with their flukes in the air. The boat was plenty comfortable and didn't feel crowded. There were places to view the whales on the deck in the open air and then also places of comfort to retreat to when the wind picked up. The double hull boat design reduced the rocking motion a lot as we navigated well up the fjord. Our host was amiable, amusing, and knowledgeable.

Nice outing. Two whales were observed and a dolphin. Good explanations, friendly crew. - Nice outing in the fjord with a very stable boat so no risk of seasickness. 2 whales come very close. Sending photos after the release.

Glad We Did This - We booked this excursion through Viking Cruises. It was a short bus ride (about 2 minutes) from the ship to the tour. The tour guide had a degree in biology, which made the tour better. The boat held about 30 people. We rode out for about 45 minutes. The view out is beautiful. It is very cold. Gloves and a hat are a good idea. I was glad that I had those little packs that you crack and they get warm. The tour company has jumpsuits that you can use, which will keep you warm. You can also sit inside, but then you miss the whales. There were 4 boats in the same spot watching a group of whales that were swimming around. One of the whales jumped completely out of the water. That was very cool. Another whale come vertically out of the water and then slid back into the water. We saw plenty of whales and we were all happy.

Best day of our life! - We went whale watching in the Fjord on the sixth of February with a french group of students. We saw 6 Humpback's whales from very close by. They were curious and came towards the boat the Ambassador. It was a breathtaking encounter and some of the students were even crying so special was the encounter. Even the captain and the guide Ania were exited by this exceptional encounter. We got very professional guiding by Ania and for some students this was the best day of their life!! Thank you so much for this unforgettable whale watching trip❤️🐋❤️

Whale hunting disappointment - We booked a whale hunting trip in Akureyri because we were informed that was the best way of seeing sea life. However if we had known the boat was only going to travel the same route as the Cruise ship then I wouldn't have booked it !! I know that we are in the laps of the gods with regards to whale/dolphin spotting and the staff on the boat were very knowledgeable about sea life & bird activities & in that aspect ot was a good trip. However having just cruised the same waters on the ship it eas a tad disappointingly. Sorry to give a rather negative view but those are my feelings

Saw no whales but the ship and crew were good - The ship and crew were fine and very knowledgeable. The only problem was we really saw no whales. Of course, that's always the chance you take, but that's why I gave it a 3 rating. The whale ship was docked extremely close to our NCL cruise ship so it was easy to get there by walking. The walk to the whale ship sponsored by the cruise line would have been a much longer walk.
