Discover the breathtaking humpbacks within the Eyjafjord as you cruise on our cozy sightseeing vessel. This whale watching journey, geared for families and providing excellent value, runs as many as 4 times daily from Akureyri in Northern Iceland.
Elding has earned international recognition as a green company for its dedication to the environment. Their prime objective and commitment lies in reducing operational effects on nature whilst delivering an indelible oceanic experience.
- Please note that weather in Iceland is unpredictable and that the tour can be cancelled on short notice due to unfavourable conditions at sea.
- This is a wildlife tour and therefore sightings cannot be guaranteed. In case of no sightings, we offer the opportunity to try again for free.
- We abide by a code of conduct for responsible whale watching, which means that all sightings are on the wildlife’s terms. We can therefore never guarantee up close encounters.
- Please note that our fleet is not completely wheelchair accessible as there are steep stairs between lower and upper decks and high thresholds to get from the decks into the saloon as well as from the saloon to the toilets.
- Wheelchair users are welcome to bring a foldable chair onboard our bigger boats, but if possible, please advise our office prior to departure as we may need to assist with boarding.

Great trip - Really enjoyable trip, all staff were friendly and helpful. Guide was very knowledgeable and engaging. The whales also played their part 😀

Whale watching in Akurey - Very cold but with the trip out. Saw multiple whales. No breaches but several blows, arches and tail flips. Weather was good. Water was calm.

Ten humpback whales! - This was our third trip with the company in the past year. Yesterday we were on a small boat with Cheyenne as our guide; her infectious enthusiasm and love of the local wildlife shines through and hugely enhances the experience each time. We were so lucky in seeing two large groups of humpback whales, we were able to approach them quite closely while not unduly encroaching on their space, something which this company seems to understand. Cheyenne's commentary was helpful as ever and the boat clean and safe. It was a wonderful experience and we will definitely be back!

One of the bucket list - A wonderful experience
The guide was extremely knowledgeable and passionate about the state of our oceans and the welfare of its species. Hot drinks on board & warm clothing if required. We saw 3 humpback whales, quite an overwhelming experience.

The absolute best MUST DO trip - We went on the trip on the 2nd December and whilst it was unbelievably cold, the trip was one of THE best we have ever done. We saw three hump backs, it was simple incredible. We met some amazing people, and could not recommend this as an absolute must do!

One of the BEST Days of my Life!! - I can’t believe I forgot to post a review about this whale watching experience, because it was quite literally one of the top 10 most amazing days I’ve had in my entire! We went whale watching on May 12, 2024 and had the absolute pleasure of watching a female humpback whale feeding for around an entire hour! She was the only whale we saw, but we were incredibly lucky that she came up about every 60 seconds right next to our boat and put on an amazing show for us. If you’re wondering whether or not to book a tour - you MUST! It was absolutely unforgettable!

Close encounters of a different kind - A great day out and I was spoilt by Karen and Cheyanne.
No large whales on this trip but a very close encounter with two very shy porpoises.

Great! - Fantastic trip! We have seen three different species of whales! Being able to take fantastic pictures myself, but the guide also took pictures. You received these photos free of charge on request. All in all a fantastic experience.

Beautiful and peaceful. - The whole trip was amazing and I got loads of water and countryside pictures. It was quiet and peaceful although a large boat. Most of my pictures were of where the whale was so I read the tickets and asked for free pictures and was delighted to receive them via email! What a gift! Would recommend this trip to anyone!

Wonderful trip - cold (as expected :-), - Our guide was super engaging and funny which made the tour a lot better. We did see humpback whales and it was an awesome experience being so close to these giants of the seas. For other travellers expectation management: It would have been amazing to see them jumping, but as our guide mentioned, this is more of a feeding area, therefore, the whales tend not to jump, but dive only. Still a great experience though which I recommend 100%
