The river ravine, Glerárgil, is an undiscovered treasure of nature that cuts the city of Akureyri in half. We’ve managed to make this protected region approachable through a carefully planned trail and five ziplines, all in a sustainable and eco-friendly manner.
- Children must be accompanied by an adult
- Minimum age is 8 years
- Operates in all weather conditions, please dress appropriately
- Weight limits: 30 - 120 kg (65 - 260 lbs) for safety reasons
- Sturdy shoes with good grip recommended
- Bring a hair tie for long hair
- Must be able to walk on uneven paths, at a moderate pace, for up to 10 minutes at a time

We are located at the end of the parking lot by the daycare.
- Plenty of parking.
- Free local bus A5 or A6.
Other methods of travel time from center of town / port:
- 45 min. walking, uphill.
- Rental scooters, ca 20 min.
- Taxi, under 10 min.
- Hop on Hop off tour bus + 10 min walk = 30 min

Zip Line adventure on 8 Aug 24 - Super job all around!! Great experience on our short visit to Akureyri with Celebrity Cruises. Easy and safe (up hill) walk on sidewalks from the cruise port to Zipline Akureyri. Highly recommend this event if you are interested in a zipline experience.

Such a memorable experience - Great fun and for a small course our guides Belkin and Elf made it so much fun. This is a great first timer course or for those not comfortable with heights. An easy hike up the hill from the port (less than 2 miles). It was less than 2 hours to do this and still allowed us time to taxi out to the falls.

Brilliant Ziplining - We had a great morning with Zipline Akureyri, our guides Jon and Magnes made the trip extremely fun and we all felt very safe. Having ziplined previously in lots of other destinations, this was the 1st time we were shown how to do “tricks” whilst ziplining and that’s what made this even better. We were on holiday for 2 weeks and we all agreed at the end that this was our favourite experience of our trip

Fun and exciting activity - It was a fun day! Very beautiful place. Goed instructions. Also fun for children.
It is just outside Akureyri, you can walk there (40 min) or rent an electric bike.

Zipline through Akureyri - We had a great time zip lining in Akureyri! Our guides were fantastic. This was a great, easy zip line adventure. All we had to do was clip on the lines & go. The guides did all the stopping for us. The area through Akureyri was very pretty. We definitely recommend this activity. Super fun.

Pretty zippy zipline experience - Very friendly and welcoming guides. Beautiful views of the river and canyon. My teens loved it, but we all agreed it was a bit short for the money. Still, a unique and memorable experience.
