Hattusha - Departing from the village, after breakfast, we head to Hattusa. The Hittites, an Indo-European people, arrived via the Black Sea to northern Anatolia at the start of the 18th century BC. They encountered the local Hatti people and established significant civilizations in Anatolia, thriving during the Bronze Age. They utilized horse-drawn chariots as war vehicles, notably during their conflict with Ramses II, which led to a major battle with the Egyptians. This resulted in a peace treaty, notable for being the first to involve women signatories, inscribed on clay. We will visit Yazilikaya, the ruins of an open-air Hittite temple featuring rock carvings of Hittite deities. Next, we explore Hattusas, including the grand temple, city ruins, and the Gates of Lion and King. We will also visit the Hittite summer palace and drive to Alacahoyuk, the first capital of the Hittite and Hatti civilizations. Dinner and overnight stay in Hattusa.
