Initially, Kom El-Dikka was a prosperous residential area, later becoming a major civic center in Alexandria, featuring a bath complex (thermae), auditoria (lecture halls), and a theater. Today, Kom el-Dikka stands as the largest and most complete above-ground archaeological site in Alexandria, offering extensive archaeological evidence of urban life in Roman Egypt, including early villas with mosaics and late Roman public works.
- Catacombs of Kom el Shoqafa - The Catacombs of Kom El-Shoqafa, meaning “Mound of Shards,” is a historical archaeological site in Alexandria, Egypt, and is regarded as one of the Seven Wonders of the Middle Ages. The necropolis comprises a series of Alexandrian tombs, statues, and archaeological objects from the Pharaonic funerary cult, influenced by Hellenistic and early Imperial Roman styles.
- Alexandria Library - The Great Library of Alexandria in Alexandria, Egypt, was one of the largest and most significant libraries of the ancient world. It was part of a larger research institution called the Mouseion, dedicated to the Muses, the nine goddesses of the arts.
- Qaitbay Castle - Qaitbay Citadel is one of the most important forts on the Mediterranean Sea coast. The Mamluk Sultan Al-Ashraf Abu al-Nasr Qaitbay constructed it between 882 AH/1477 AD and 884/1479 AD over the ruins of Alexandria’s Lighthouse. It served as Alexandria’s defense.
- Mosque of Abu al-Abbas al-Mursi - The Abu al-Abbas al-Mursi Mosque is a historic mosque in Alexandria, Egypt. Named after the 13th-century mystic Abu’l Abbas al-Mursi, it is also the burial site for him and members of the Ashraf family.
