These structures were constructed during the Fourth Dynasty of the Old Kingdom of Ancient Egypt. The area also includes several cemeteries and the remnants of a workers’ village.
The site is situated at the edge of the Western Desert, approximately 9 kilometers (5.6 miles) west of the Nile River in the city of Giza, and about 13 kilometers (8 miles) southwest of Cairo’s city center.
