Lucky to be able to pay my respects. - We were extremely happy to be able to visit the Commonwealth Cemetry where I was able to visit my grandfather's grave after being denied this by Covid 19. From my point of view, it was very heart felt after having served my country for many years but being lucky enough to never been sent to a conflict. Seeing the approximately 4200 graves at this Cemetry, which is just one of a few cemeteries for the battle of El Alamein for soldiers, sailors and airmen, airwomen and anyone else involved from all nations involved just shows how cruel we are as humans towards each other. I pray for each and every one of their spirits, no matter their country of origin. I would also like to thank the Egyptian people for the donation of the land upon which these people have been laid to rest, for the workers who keep the grounds looking so great and for the countries that help to pay for this, financially, which I believe is their responsibility now and, in the future, to help remind us of the brutality of war. The El Alamein War Museum was wonderful, and our guide was very proud to explain to us Egypt's role in the war. But how wonderful would it be if there were no wars. Our guild was very informative, and our driver was very good.
