Marrakech - Imlil - Mountain Hut

Toubkal - Join us for an exhilarating adventure to conquer the highest peak in North Africa over two days. The journey begins and ends in the lively city of Marrakech, with transportation provided to and from Imlil. Accompanied by an experienced local guide, a local cook, and mules to carry your belongings, you’ll embark on a challenging trek rather than a climb. Anyone in good physical shape can reach the summit. Don’t forget your camera; the views from the top are spectacular.

Mountain Hut - Toubkal Summit - Imlil

Toubkal - Standing at 4167m, Mount Toubkal is the tallest mountain in North Africa. Your two-day ascent will reward you with breathtaking views of the Atlas Mountains and Toubkal National Park.
Day 2: Toubkal Refuge (base camp) - Toubkal peak – Imlil - Marrakech
At dawn, you’ll attempt the summit of Jebel Toubkal, the highest peak in Northern Africa. The route ascends the south cirque, crossing a stream above the refuge. While the path is generally straightforward, the scree and altitude present some challenges. The stunning views along the way make the effort worthwhile. Upon reaching the summit, you’ll be greeted with panoramic vistas stretching from the Marrakesh Plain to the High Atlas in the north and as far south as the Anti-Atlas and the Sahara. You’ll retrace your steps down the mountain and return to Imlil, followed by a transfer back to Marrakech. Expect about 9 to 10 hours of walking.

Imlil - Ouarzazate - Dades Valley

Tizi n Tichka - Depart from your accommodation in Imlil at 8:30 am, crossing the Atlas Mountains via the stunning Tizi-n-Tichka pass. You’ll pass through numerous Berber villages, and upon reaching the desert, you’ll encounter riverside oases and barren hillsides dotted with kasbahs (fortified dwellings for families and livestock). Along the way, you can choose to visit the Ouarzazate Film Studios or take a hike. Upon arrival at Dades Gorge, you can opt for a hike or relax at your hotel. Overnight in Dades. (Total driving time: 7 hours)

Boumalen Dades - Tinghir - Merzouga

Merzouga - Enjoy breakfast at the hotel before transferring from the Dades Valley to Todra Gorge, a dramatic fault dividing the High Atlas mountains, rising 300 meters in a narrow valley with palm groves and Berber villages. Here, you can hike to explore the palmery, a lush oasis filled with date palms. After lunch, continue deeper into the desert to Merzouga, where you’ll gather supplies for your desert journey. You’ll then proceed to a kasbah to collect your camel. At sunset, embark on a 1.5-hour camel trek to a Berber camp, where you’ll savor a traditional Moroccan dinner and sleep under the stars or in tents at a desert camp. (Total driving time: 6 hours)

Merzouga - Alnif - Ouarzazate

Alnif - Wake up to a stunning desert sunrise and return to the kasbah by camel. After freshening up and enjoying breakfast, you’ll leave the desert for a drive to Ait Benhaddou, an ancient fortified city with numerous kasbahs, featured in many Hollywood films (The Mummy, Gladiator, Alexander, Lawrence of Arabia…). You’ll have the opportunity to explore the buildings with your guide. Overnight in a riad in Ouarzazate. (Total driving time: 5 - 6 hours)

Day 6: Ouarzazate - Ait Benhaddou - Marrakech

Tizi n Tichka - Journey through the Ounilla Valley to the Telouet Kasbah, a once-important trading stop now in ruins. Explore the Kasbah, and after lunch, return over the Tizi-n-Tichka Pass to Marrakech. (Total driving time: 4 hours)
