Marrakech - Imlil - the toubkal refuge\n\nToubkal - Pick up from your hotel in Marrakech. After a transfer to the little village of Imlil, you will start your trek. Heading along the Mizane Valley, we first pass the village of Aremd and then onto the shrine of Sidi Chamarouch. You then continue east and by crossing the flood plains your route takes you along mule tracks and up into the high rocky cliffs above the valley. Crossing the river you eventually come to the pastoral shrine of Sidi Chamarouch, which attracts tourists and pilgrims. From here the trail continues to climb steadily, snaking and zigzagging its way up to the snowline and the refuge (3206m). Here you will spend the night. About 5 to 6 hours walking.\nB/L/D

Challenge yourself with a 2 or 3 day journey to the summit of North Africa’s tallest mountain. The journey begins and ends in the bustling city of Marrakech, and includes transfers to and from Imlil. You will be accompanied by a local guide who speaks English, a cook, and mules carrying the luggage. The trek is demanding but not a climb, and anyone in good shape can reach the summit. Don’t forget your camera; the summit views are breathtaking. Mount Toubkal, at 4167m, is North Africa’s highest peak, and involves no climbing – just two days of walking in crampons for security, holding an ice axe (Nov to April). The itinerary is designed for enthusiastic walkers, as although the ascent is non-technical, it involves some manageable scrambling and snow slopes.
