  • Al Madam - WHAT TO SEE AT AL MADAM GHOST TOWN
The abandoned village of Al Madam Ghost Town is made of 2 rows of houses and a mosque at the far end of the village. All houses have succumbed to the shifting sands and the harsh realities of desert life.
In some places you can still see the decorative flooring and the wall painting, but in some rooms the sand climbed so high you won’t be able to enter.

Some say it is spooky to visit this ghost town, personally we thought it was quite peaceful. Once inhabited by Al Kutbi tribe members, it is unclear why the town has been abandoned: some say it is a \

Additional Information

An Entombed Hamlet

The residents inform that the Al Kutbi tribe were the last people to inhabit this hamlet. The buildings you observe here date back to the 1980s. Currently, the whole hamlet, inclusive of homes, mosques, and vehicles, is encased in sand, which is why it is referred to as the ‘Buried Village’. It can be observed that sand, along with harsh elements of nature, has claimed this hamlet.

Excellent service - Our tour guide, Yusuf, came highly recommended by the Al Badayer Resort which drove us to the villas and told us a bit about the history of the village.

Not Your Typical Ghost Town - Al Madam Ghost Town is very much underrated. This place is awesome of you have a 4WD! Just make sure you have a shovel in the car or that your car has a "crawl" option. This is usually available in FJ's. The place is very peaceful. You can see a mosque, villas that are half covered in sand and an entry gate that looks like a frame. You can visit this place via 2 entrances. Where Google Map took us was an andveturous path. However, there is another way that does not require a lot of obstacle courses and this will lead you to that frame. Do not expect anybtpilet. Make sure you akready do your business before reaching this place.

Photogenic Ghost Town with disinterested guide. - While we found the ‘Ghost town’ interesting, and photogenic, there was no ‘tour’ to speak of. Our “guide” had fallen asleep within 5 minutes of picking us up (drive was about an hour out to the site), said about 4 sentences to us the whole time (2 of which were trying to sell us other tours), and then spent the entire trip back yelling into his phone. He and the driver sat in the car while we explored the site.

I would never use this company again. - • 8am booking - they turn up at 11:20am • Tour guide? Nope • Sat on his phone entire time whilst driving. • Very unprofessional company. • Did not get what I paid for. I really would NOT recommend this company for your tours.
