Great Tour, Great Value. - Had a fabulous morning with Akhil, tasting our way around Alleppey & would highly recommend this tour to anyone who loves good food & good company. Akhil happily changed our starting time to suit our schedule, and he also modified the tour on the day due to the very hot weather which we really appreciated. We tried so much local food & went into places we would have never found on our own. Akhil always asked our preferences & offered options at each stop. Being Vishu Day, a special festival in Kerala, we also got to partake in an incredible feast on banana leaf to celebrate the day. Don’t hesitate to book this tour if you want to really experience local food & daily life.

Great food and conversations - Sibi was a great guide, easy to speak with and gad a lot of insights of the city and if course the food! We tried many new foods and places that we normally wouldn't have found or even thought to search. Fantastic to have a local person guiding us to feel like we knew the city better!

Excellent tour, recommended - 3 of us booked onto the food walking tour of Alleppey, my father, husband, and I. Our guide, Akhil, was fabulous. He told us about the food, the cuisine, and about the different drinks and the meaning behind them (love tea). Honestly, we would not have even seen some of the places we went to on the tour and certainly would not have tried some of the best food Alleppey has to offer without Akhil. We stopped for a few snacks before having some heavier meals, then sweet treats, which we had boxed to take away with us as we were well untruely full! The split between veg and non veg was very good and enough to fill all 3 of us!

No better introduction to Alleppey and to food in Kerala - We had a really memorable evening today with our fantastic guide Akhil. Let's start with the walk - we moved at a really steady pace with our guide repeatedly checking in to see if we were happy to walk a little further and whether we wanted additional rest points in between. We walked between 2 and 15 minutes between food venues, with each short journey filled with anecdotes, stories and endless good humour as we asked lots of questions about India and Kerala! Next, the food: I loved the variety. At different stops we tried fried snacks, light bites, Indian breads, curries , Indian sweets and different types of tea. For the amount we ate, this was incredible value for money and we definitely didn't need to eat beforehand or afterwards - make sure you keep your stomachs empty for the tour! Akhil was great at checking in with us though, asking whether we wanted smaller portions, larger portions, repeat portions or if we wanted to share, so the tour felt really personalised to our tastes and our appetites! Lastly, the guide - because what is a tour without a good guide? And Akhil was amazing! So knowledgeable about the local area but also, so easy to connect with. He shared stories from his life, spoke honestly and openly and made us feel like we'd all been friends for life. All in all, this was an incredible introduction to Alleppey and to food in Kerala and I would strongly recommend it !

Amazing food and host! - Top quality experience to enjoy some local Keralan food we wouldn’t have found otherwise! We also learnt lots about Indian culture and Alleppey itself. Akhil was the perfect tour guide - friendly, fun and all with a big smile. Would recommend!

Brilliant introduction to South Indian Food with great company - A wonderful introduction to Alleppey and to Keralan food. Our host, Akhil, was brilliant and a fantastic guide as we tried various different kinds of Keralan food (savory and sweet). My girlfriend is vegetarian but I eat meat and he was happy to accommodate. Thank you Akhil!

You will be fed! - This is a great experience as an introduction to the foods of Kerala. There is some room for curation if you are wanting a deeper understanding and history of dishes and flavor, but you certainly will be fed! A little pricey but we had a fun time tasting snacks, mains, sweets, and teas around town in a variety of places and atmospheres. A very manageable walk and pacing with his talks along the way. If you also have certain requests then Akhil knows where to find it! I recommend this to groups that want a taste of local cuisine in guaranteed tasty places.

An OK experience for people who don't know the area. - It was honestly kind of lame. The originally scheduled tour guide had some sort of engagement and Whatsapped me the day before to change the time to the evening. Since we had only the morning free, I asked to cancel it. He said he could arrange another guide but that most of the shops would be closed. I'm not sure why they offer tours at 11 am then, The replacement guide didn't really talk and I don't think he was English-speaking so I had to translate for the rest of the group. We got some okay snacks but I've had better in smaller towns in Kerala. I think it was interesting for the rest of group of non-Malayalis. The only thing I was super happy about was that I got to roam about Alleppey with someone who I knew was paid to make sure we didn't eat at places with bad hygiene and he was pretty patient because I wanted to do other shopping since the food tour didn't really offer much.

I have attended food walk in my city and abroad as well. This particular food walk was very disappointing - There was no information shared about history of kerela food. We were not told about customs and traditions behind each dish. I had mentioned my family is vegetarian but on the food walk we were told in kerela vegetarian options are very less. We missed out on knowing the traditions and local culture of Alleppy
