Additional Information

Adventure. Authenticity. Exploration. This tour embodies these ideas. Leave the trails and cookie-cutter tours behind to go off-trail into the magical boreal forest just outside of Denali National Park.

Put on your future-shoes for a moment. Your feet sink into the deep moss that carpets the forest floor. It feels like walking on a memory foam mattress. Your guide hands you a handful wild blueberries. They’re tastier than the ones you bought at the store. The flavors wash over your tongue as your guide tells you about the nutritional benefits.

From the corner of your eye you spot movement! A snowshoe hare. It hasn’t lost its ivory-white winter coat yet. Your guide decides to change course and follow the hare. Why not? You’re not on a trail.

Now drag yourself back to the present. Is that snapshot something you want to experience on your Denali vacation? If so, you’re the person we designed this tour for. The magic starts when you leave the trail.

Brilliant trip. - Jason was a brilliant guide on our hike. He was very knowledgeable as he guided us through the wilderness. The hike it’s self was not overly long but covered some great spots and we enjoyed the fabulous scenery on offer.

A must do!!! - If you’re visiting Denali National Park, I highly recommend the Wilderness Wonders excursion with Northern Epics. From pick-up to drop off, our guides, Jordan and Darhryqk were friendly, funny, and professional. Their love for the outdoors and the area was evident in their own stories of exploration, and/or knowledge of any random plant, flower, mineral or wildlife. The hike itself was fantastic and the scenic views were stunning, but that was all icing on the cake compared to everything we learned from these two impassioned outdoor guides. As soon as your company starts selling -T-shirts, I will buy one! Iowans love to travel and we’ll be happy to represent! Thanks Jordan and Derek for a memorable experience.

It was a-moose-ing! - Jordan and Derek were so knowledgeable, kind, and full of dad jokes (A+ content it was awesome). I’m only sad we didn’t find them sooner. You will not regret spending your time with them!

Must-do tour! - Trinidad is both a delightful human being and encyclopedic about all things Denali. This was my first ever off-trail hike, and it was a much more interesting and satisfying experience than I had imagined, largely due to Trinidad’s expertise and enthusiasm for all of what we encountered. I can’t recommend him or this tour enough for someone who wants to learn about the natural environment in and around Denali.

Great experience! - We had a great time trying different kinds of berries, leaves, and even a lichen! Our guide, Jordan, was great. We would recommend this as a great way to get outside and experience the natural area and learn more about the oval flora.

Great tour and most enthusiastic tour guide! - First and foremost, we can highly recommend the 5 hours tour. With Trinidad as a guide, we did not only have a fun time hiking uphill, we learned a big deal about the flora and history of Denali as well. Trinidad seems to be trully enthusiastic about the area, telling us about it and at the same time tirelessly answering all our 1000 questions. Although we mostly hike on our own and enjoying it, it was the best decision to book this tour to get more insights with a fun guide.

Overpriced and average. - Guide was knowlegeable and friendly. Entire tour was 3 and 1/2 hours door to door and not the 4 hours advertised. Despite leaving early, our guide/driver did not pull over to observe a moose sighting. I thought the tour was significantly overpriced at $199. A $100 more appropriate for the time actually spent in nature which was about 2 and 1/2 hours.
