Alexandria is for lovers - Library lovers, that is! We spent 2 days in Alexandria so we would have enough time to visit the amazing library (check out the old maps on the cartography floor: upside down so north is at the bottom), printing press exhibits, and Anwar Sadat Museum. Heads up: the library is open until 7 but the many museums inside close at 4. We ran out of time to see it all. Our guide took us to a side street seafood stall and we had an AMAZING lunch of fresh fish, calamari, shrimp, clams, side dishes. One of the best meals in Egypt and we never would have found it without him. We also went to the little-visited Alexandria National Museum which was well worth it. Unlike many other museums in Egypt it had detailed explanations for exhibits. Don't miss the tomb downstairs (it is somewhat hidden - we almost missed the staircase). Highly recommend this trip!
