This trip gives you... - This trip gives you plenty of time to see and do everything at Mount Vernon. It would have been fun to be able to stop and walk around Old Alexander instead of just driving through to see it but just a minor point

The tour company should... - The tour company should inform that the place was 70% closed before people book it. Washington house was almost completely closed for renovations. The gift shop was 100% closed. I basically went there to eat at the restaurant. Travelers should be informed in advance about what they expect and let them decide. Not be informed once you get to the place. The guide was good.

Save some money and go by Uber. - We knew going into MV was undergoing a huge restoration so seeing the house was limited. It was a beautiful 60° day so we really enjoyed seeing the out bldgs (greenhouse, tomb and slave quarters etc). However, the transportation to and from could've been better. The van smelled dirty and musty. The windows weren't clean inside or out. If you're going to ask patrons to spend $100 each then at least have a clean vehicle. The tour guide was knowledgeable but kinda irritating with his stories of no point. He was also very poorly dressed. At least show up to work with clean clothes. You might be better off taking an Uber. You also just drive through Old Town, while pulls over to tell some hx if certain houses but that's it.
