- Alexandria Visitors Center - We start at the Ramsay House and discuss the origins of Alexandria, Virginia. William Ramsay was a Scottish merchant and good friend of George Washington. He was one of the founders of Alexandria. This first stop contains one of our favorite hidden gems. Hint: It’s hiding in plain sight!

- Carlyle House - Travelers will discover where the American Revolution was born. No kidding! Twenty years before the Revolutionary War started, events were in motion that would lead to the American colonies declaring independence.
- Gadsby’s Tavern Museum - We will stop outside Gadsby’s and talk about its connection to early American presidents. We will also see the famous ice well!
- Hollensbury Spite House - The story of the famous Spite House will be told. We will see the famous house and make sure guests can take pictures!
- Alexandria’s Christ Church - Discover where George Washington went to church in Alexandria. You can even sit in his pew.
- Athenaeum - We will pass by the Athenaeum as we walk down Prince Street and head toward Captain’s Row. There is an abundance of fascinating sites along the 200 block of Prince Street. Beautiful homes that have stories dating back to the 18th century.
- Captain’s Row - One of Alexandria’s classic cobblestone streets. Fun and fascinating history to include one of Alexandria’s largest fires. We will discuss why it is called Captain’s Row. This will be the last stop on the tour and we will take pictures and be close to great restaurants!

Highly recommended! - Our experience was great. My wife and I were the only ones signed up for our tour time, so it was a private tour with Tim. We did the Revolutionary War tour and learned so much about George Washington and his connections throughout Alexandria. The tour was well organized and Tim was really engaging, enthusiastic, and ready to answer ALL our questions.

Informative and Entertaining Tour - My wife and I took the "Discover Alexandria" walking tour with our guide Wayne this past Saturday and really enjoyed it. The entire tour took about an hour and a half, but it was an easy walk everywhere. We learned a lot and Wayne had lots of stories along the way. Highly recommended as a way to learn about the early history of Alexandria. We're looking forward to trying the ghost tour the next time we're in town.

Well worth it!!! - Wayne was a fantastic guide! So knowledgeable, funny, gave just enough info n not too much, asked questions to make the tours more interactive. One of the best guides I've ever had!!!

Fantastic Tour with a Knowledgeable Guide - I had a wonderful experience on the historic Old Town Alexandria walking tour! Eileen was absolutely fantastic. She was incredibly knowledgeable and brought the history of Alexandria to life with fascinating stories and insights. The pace was perfect and Eileen‘s enthusiasm for the city’s rich history was contagious. From colonial landmarks to hidden gems, every stop was filled with interesting details I wouldn’t have learned on my own. I highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Alexandria.

Grateful we did it! - This was a wonderful tour of Old Town's history, especially during the revolutionary era. Our tour guide, Tim, was knowledgeable, friendly, and engaging. I would recommend the experience to both visitors and locals!

Historic walkabout with Tim, top notch! - The walk with Tim was so very insightful and fun. He gave many insights into history and shared many background stories. It was a fun hike around this lovey small cute town.

Tour guide knowledge unsurpassed - Tim was an incredible tour guide. Very pleasant and knowledge of Alexandria and its people was unsurpassed. He provided so much detail, and I felt we could stop at every corner to tap his knowledge. I learned about early revolutionary war sites, the people who came to or were from Alexandria (Elmer, Washington, Fairfax, Lee, etc.), and saw sites from the beginning of Alexandria. If you have time, would recommend the tour - 2 hrs was a perfect amount of time.

Great Alexandria insights all-around! - Tim really knows his stuff, not just about revolutionary Alexandria history, but the entirety of the city and region in general as well as extensive knowledge about all time periods, from the 18th century to present! Highly recommend Tim for tours of all shapes/sizes!
