Take this Tour. It is Beyond Great. - John, our tour guide, was amazing. Seven people were on the tour (two families, including my own), and we all remarked afterward how much we had learned. The tour was exactly the right length in my opinion --- chock-full of content and sites, but it ended just before I got tired. The history is a hard history, but John's approach to the subject matter was both sensitive and comprehensive. I can't say enough about what a positive experience this was for me and my family.

A true highlight of our trip to Alexandria - Our guide, John, was very well informed, explained things in an easy to comprehend style, and very personable. This tour was a highlight of our time in Alexandria. The route was easy and the perfect length of time even on a warm day. We learned about 4 different enslaved people/families and who they were, how they most likely escaped, and what might have happened to them. It was important to hear their varied yet similar stories and honor their part and history in the city. John is from Alexandria and was well prepared and researched, as well is an invested community member (he said hello to many people along the route and is, I believe, a council member). We were the only family on the tour so it was very personal and informative and it is clear he cares about his city — and all parts of its history. We left knowing way more than “George Washington”, about Colonial Alexandria. It was also a really great value. I would wholeheartedly recommend this or any of this company’s tours.

A MUST Tour - A Must Tour. Tour guide lived in the area, knew the area, knew the history, was able to knowledgeably answer questions, friendly. The tour was nicely paced for you to take in the information and area. I did not feel rushed. People of all ages would enjoy this tour. Even though group was small, guide used a mike system so I could hear. G-R-E-A-T Tour.

Very Interesting - Very interesting. The guide was well read in not only the stories of black enslaved Alexandrians, but the Underground Railroad and slavery in general.
