The architectural details of these tombs are often enhanced with elements inspired by the domestic structures of the living, such as steps, pillars, cornices, false lintels, doors, and windows.
Artifacts found at the site are linked to the Ozieri Culture (4200–3400 BCE), indicating the necropolis’s earliest use. Many tombs were subsequently reused during the Chalcolithic period (3600–2100 BCE).
The Domus de Janas were externally sealed with stone slabs and have uncovered collective burials of individuals primarily positioned in a supine manner.

Investigate chambers inspired by the homes of the living, complete with steps, pillars, and false doors, where the deceased were interred with personal belongings.

- Pets are allowed with a muzzle and leash, if they are small dogs a leash is sufficient
- Upon arrival at the archaeological site, the guides at the ticket office will provide you with a multilingual audio guide and a QR code with password so that you can download the tracks directly onto your phone
- You will also be provided with a detailed map of the site so that you can move around independently and easily, indicating the route and the number of audio tracks with the various points where you can stop to listen to the corresponding track
- The map must be returned at the ticket office when you leave
- The site is not fully accessible for buggies, so we recommend using a baby carrier
