Horseback Riding Adventure with Daria - We had an unforgettable horseback riding experience in the Kungey Alatau mountains, and I can't recommend it enough. The breathtaking beauty of the landscape in the fall was an absolute highlight, perfect for leaf peeping and immersing yourself in the wonders of nature. Our guide Daria, was an absolute gem. Her passion for the mountains was evident in every conversation and every stop along the way. Her skills extended beyond guiding: she prepared amazing meals for us and made the entire experience fun with her enthusiasm and positive energy.

An unforgettable trip in mountains - I attended the Three Kolsay Lakes Horseback riding & hiking trip. As a solo traveler, I am really happy to join the trip with the other two travelers that Powder Nomands arranged. This is my first time attending a long-distance trip in the wild. Even though I have almost zero experience in horseback riding and hiking in the wild, I was taken good care of by the team leader. I was told the equipment that I needed to prepare and all the detailed notices. During the trip, I also received clear guidance. This is a three-day tour. The first two days we were on the back of the horse and the last day we were hiking. Everyone had their own horse and these horses are really good at climbing the mountains! We have control of our horses by ourselves with the reins in our hands and our guides will help us when it is necessary. We visited three lakes inside the mountains and I have to say the scenery is splendid! The first night we slept in a small wooden house on the top of the mountain ( nearly 3000 altitude) and the second night we slept in the tents next to a lake. Our guide prepared all the food and water for us during this three-day trip. (Except for the dinner on the last day) The weather in the mountains changes. Sometimes it will be rainy. But as long as we prepared a raincoat, it was fine.

Impromptu, whirlwind trip around eastern Kazakhstan with Powder Nomads - My partner and I had a really special experience in Kazakhstan under the guidance of Darya and Alex. We originally signed up for the 3 day horseriding and hiking trip in Kolsay but I came down with a cold a day before. I reached out to Darya (who responds very quickly via WhatsApp) who was able to put together a special itinerary that was less physically intensive for us under short notice. I was impressed by how well thought-out the impromptu 3 day trip ended up being, as it preserved a lot of the important elements we were looking for (horseriding and hiking around Kazakhstan) and was ccombined with Darya's knowledge of the area, culminating in our privilege of experiencing a lot of different sights in the country in a short period of time (Charyn Canyon, Singing Dunes, Turgen mountains, and even a private visit to an apple orchard). I was really impressed by Darya's knowledge as a guide and appreciated her breadth of knowledge on all sorts of topics on her country. Her appreciation of the outdoors and wildlife were particularly nice and we appreciated learning about the plants and animals we encountered during horseriding and hiking. Also, she took pictures of me and my partner throughout the trip and generously shared them with us at the end. They definitely turned out better than most of the pics I took, so that was a truly nice and unexpected bonus! Alex's driving was really skilled, especially getting us to places when we were running late. We really enjoyed getting to know him and Darya better and hearing about their perspectives on Kazakh culture! We realize that we only experienced a limited amount of the Kazakh outdoor experience that Darya and Alex can offer this time around and would be excited to seek them out for more adventures if we visit Kazakhstan again. We'll definitely be recommending them to our friends who love adventurous travel in any case!

An AMAZING trip !!! - I had a wonderful time on this tour, the views were unbelievable and the fresh mountain water was fantastic - I’d recommend bringing a filter with you ! The horses were a bit lazy but after a while they are enticed to speed up once they realise food is at the top (hahhaha). I believe this is a once in a lifetime experience, and I will never go on a better horseback trip. Also the lakes were all stunning with a beautiful scenery surrounding them - it was even warm enough to swim inside the lake water - I felt as though all my worries instantly dissolved. When we hiked down on the last day , it was wonderful to have a full experience both on horseback and off. My only warning would be that you would have to have at least a bit of riding experience as it is a semi- tough terrain, going through the mountains uphill and downhill. Also if you don’t know how to speak Russian - it won’t be an issue as your tour guide (Dasha) can speak English well. If you can ride I would almost certainly wish you could go on this trip!!

An unforgettable experience - I had one of the best mountain trip during the 3 days, I travel solo, super lucky to joined with group of 5 ladies, Daria is our super power guide, she has great charisma and energy, passionate about showing the best part of mountains, lakes in Almaty, very detail oriented, made sure all of us had good cooked food and fresh tea/coffee, as well best spot to do picnic, swim in the Kolsay lake, bone fire watching the stars at night, horseback riding in a very exclusive route that felt like it was there for us only, pass through the forest, beautiful tree lines, rivers, lakes, Gorges... The experience blow me away, the companies were the best, so happy met Daria's mum, she is so special, full of younthful energy, strong confidence and full of fun, we clicked so quickly, I wish I willbe like her when I am at her age, Vicky from Italy and Karina from Almaty, Joy the smartest dog and Yolandi the queen, I will attach the whole group picture below, we laughed a lot, danced a lot together, it seemed every moment was a happy moment in this trip, we had amazing vibes~ Thank you very much Daria and Powder Nomads for creating such wonderful experience, our horses were amazing too, the wooden house/tent night stay both at the most beautiful place... If you ever pass by Almaty, looking for mountain adventures, you definitely need to contact Powder Nomads 👍

Most impressive Kolsay lakes tour - I've been visiting Kolsay lakes several times, but this tour is something exceptional. It's impressive horse riding tour around three Kolsay lakes. It was not so easy to ride horses on this trail, but the stuff helped and supported us. The horses also are obedient and manageable enough even for inexperienced riders.
