Great Pilatus trip - Great round trip and definitely worth pre booking to miss the queues at the bottom . We did the cogwheel up and the cable cars down and this worked for us . Worth checking the weather before you book , as we did , to ensure a good view from Pilatus . Fab panoramic views from the top .

An Absolute Must - We got the bus from the terminus beside the train station to Kriens and purchased our tickets for the gondola and cable car to the top of Pilatus. The weather was clear and the views were incredible. We had something to eat at the midway point before journeying to the top. It looks like something from a James Bond movie! Stunning views all round of the mountains and lake. Beware the birds looking for food which dive bomb people taking photos. By the time we were ready to leave the clouds had gathered and the views changed completely. Glad to have seen both. This is a must do trip.

Unforgettable experience - From Kriens all the way up to the top with a couple and a three-year-old child. We took the cable car. The journey takes about 30 minutes one way, but you will have to change trains for the last part. What a fantastic experience! It costs a lot of money but is definitely worth it. Beautiful views and you literally walk with your head in the clouds. An experience not to forget. If you also want to make this trip with small children: bring some toys for them to use in the gondola.

Trip to Mount Pilatus - This is a beautiful trip to take. Did a self tour from Zurich to Lucerne, walked the old town and walked to Mt. Pilatus ticketing office. Get tickets reserved earlier and you should be good to go. The gondola, Fräkmüntegg, then cable car all the way to the top. Some of the attractions at Fräkmüntegg were closed due to rain. It was a clear day and was able to climb up the stairs to the top and view the mountain. The stairs are not that strong so need to be careful. Then took the Funicular back down to Kriens. Then took train to Zurich. Worth it and was peaceful and beautiful.

The views! - Oh my goodness, this was a highlight of our two week trip to Germany Austria and Switzerland. It’s easy to get to the top (cable car & ski lift) and once there, the views are absolutely amazing! It was busy but not crowded since there’s a few places to enjoy the view. There’s a nice restaurant and gift shop too.

Don’t miss the toboggan ride about halfway up using the cable car.Great fun. - We were there in May and we spent one day doing this with lunch at the hotel, outside, at the top. There is a round trip ticket on the gondola which has two stops going and coming. Your ticket is needed at each entrance and exit. The cog train wasn’t running due to snow. At the suggestion of the ticket person we stopped first at the roddlebahn - sleds going down a metal slide, like a toboggan. About $10 each, great fun. Then we got back on the cable car to the top. Outside the typical tourist shop and eating at the top is a hotel with inside and outside seating. We had drinks and shared fries. Beautiful view. Saw a paraglider take off from the top.

Must see in the area - Beautiful views and structure, even with the clouds covering the Kulm. System was efficient and smooth. Almost no waiting times.

Wish we’d known this before we went - Spent several days planning our trip up mount Pilatus - visiting the tourist information, exploring options to combine the cogwheel railway, walking and cable car, getting tickets in advance from the train station booking office (upstairs from the main concourse, open 07:00-21:00, take your passports to get the best multiple ticket deals). Downloaded the Swiss Weather app (MeteoSwiss), to ensure good weather and reserved places on the train (extra 5CHF each one way), all to ensure a fantastic day of beauty. Then - after reaching the top- found that the top was covered in cloud and you couldn’t see anything. Apparently to have a clear view, the proceeding 2 days need to be good weather, whereas the week we were there only had a few scattered good days (the trip being on one of them) . Unsurprisingly, no one selling tickets mentioned this idiosyncrasy. Therefore v disappointed to spend a lot of money to look at the inside of clouds.
