Spectacular Northern Lights - Our tour guide was excellent. He gave a short scientific lecture about the northern lights. Talked to us on the drive out to the best area for that nights sighting. He knew exactly where they could be best seen and he was spot on at our third stop. We saw and photographed the most spectacular auroras! The trip was so worth it and our guides were the best!!! Would highly recommend!!

Northern Lights!! - I was let down by another tour operator and Alta Adventure allowed us to join them even though hadnt booked as the other operator arranged it last minute. Our guide, (forgive spelling) Therron, was very informative and was engaging with stories of local history throughout the tour, she had a great network of people and locations to give us the best chance of seeing the lights which we did in abundance! Thank you for saving our night from calamity 😊

Excellent northern lights... - Excellent northern lights experience. Our guide picked us up at the cruise ship meeting building (the blue building) - and when we started, it was cloudy and snowing in Alta. We drove around the harbor for a short while before heading away from town. Our guide was Birk (sp?) and the forecast was not favorable; however, ever the optimist - he drove about almost an hour away from town and found a break in the clouds and we spotted the northern lights. We stopped several times along the way and each time found the aurora visible. The air temperature was around 22 degrees (F) and the wind at times made it seem a bit colder, but eventually Birk stopped at one last place that seemed to be out of the wind for our best viewing yet. Birk provided a good commentary on the northern lights and on the Alta area. There were six or seven of us on the tour and everything was organized quite well. They did not have any tripods available, but otherwise, all was great and I would highly recommend this tour.

Fabulous Experience - Highly recommend Alta Adventure AS for a Northern Lights Chase. Weather proof clothing and boots were provided and we were able to change in a comfortable room after getting a mini lesson on the Northern Lights as well as an explanation of where we would travel to. The guides were professional and friendly. They were as excited as we were to spot the Northern Lights. You can tell they love what they do!

We found the lights! - The operator was fun very helpful. We drove outside the city to see the lights. It was overcast so stopped in several remote places to see if it would clear. Finally found a place where the clouds cleared and got to see the lights. They were not very strong but we got a pretty show. They provided us with hot cocoa which was very good. Overall, a good tour.

HHunting for the Northern Lights - We booked this tour as an alternative to one of the ship's tours whilst the ship was in Alta overnight. The booking process was easy and seamless with very reasonable cancellation terms. We received plenty of reminders from TripAdvisor about the upcoming tour and upcoming date for the payment to be processed, and then confirmation that the payment had been made. There were a number of other guests from the ship who had also booked this tour and we were divided into groups of 6 in a mini-van. Our group had 5 people which worked really well as one sat in the front passenger seat and we all had a comfortable window seat. Our guide, Birch, was great. He took us to a spot nearby the pickup point and explained the science behind the sun's activities and the reason for the Northern Lights. He explained the uncertainty of actually seeing anything as this is a natural phenomenon and not something that can be turned on and off at will. He guaranteed that he would search hard for the Lights, but couldn't guarantee success and we all accepted that. We tried three spots in different places that were potential areas for a sighting, based on some apps that he was using re cloud cover and aurora activity and strength, but only one gave us something little to look at. On the fourth stop, however, we hit the jackpot. We were treated to a wonderful display of greens with a hint of red lights swirling around in the sky above and around us. It was wonderful. Birch served us hot chocolate and some Norwegian cake while we watched the skies, in awe. It was VERY cold, but very worthwhile. The only negative in the whole arrangement was a lack of response from the operator. I had some questions regarding certain aspects of the tour and when the ship arrived in Alta, I called and left a message asking someone to call me back. No one did, so I tried again in the afternoon, leaving another message, which also was unanswered. Whilst this lack of response from the operator was not good, it didn't detract from the experience of the whole tour and the information and consideration that we received from our guide, Birch. We would definitely recommend this tour to others who are interested, and we wish them success on seeing the Lights.
