Welcome to Altötting, the Bavarian National Sanctuary, a town known for its miracles and one of Germany’s most frequented pilgrimage sites. Altötting has been the spiritual heart of Bavaria and the prime pilgrimage destination in Germany for over 1250 years.
A key highlight of our journey is the Chapel of Grace, one of the most renowned and impressive ecclesiastical structures in Bavaria. The original baptismal font was likely established around 700, making the Chapel of Grace among the oldest churches in Germany. Even today, devout followers carry wooden crosses during a procession circling the church. Various votive panels line the side walls of the elongated room while the alcoves contain the silver heart urn of former Wittelsbach national princes.
Join us for an extensive and unique educational adventure about the place that has tremendously influenced Christianity in Bavaria and sent ripples throughout Germany and the world at large.
