Overnight trip to Wenchi crater lake, monastery and stay at Negash resort. - Joseph and the driver picked us up At 8.00 am from the hotel. We drove slowly out of town through rural areas where people were busy ploughing with oxen. The scenery was green and wet a picture from a book. A local guide met us at Wenchi where we walked for about 90 minutes through the spring filled valley. Another scene from the past as disused water driven mills occupied. After reaching the lake where we heard the monks chanting from the monastery we were trowed over to the island. Local congregants had just finished their afternoon worship service. After returning from the historical monastery we were rowed back. Enjoyed an authentic fasting meal at the local guides house then headed back to the town. The lodge was amazing set in native bush with rooms designed in the different tribal styles. House pools and massage completed the experience the next day. Josi kept us informed of the history and culture all the way and went out of his washing to ensure we had everything we needed. Sis I is a great driver. We returned after lunch the following day. Fantastic trip we’ll worth it Another night at the lodge would be great too

Wenchi Lake july 2021 - I had an amazing time. The landscape is beautiful and the experience of knowing how people from the community live is very enriching. I am very happy with the choice I made to go there with Newey. You have to be couscious that it takes a while to get to the lake and return, but it is absolutely worth it.

Excellent guide - Our guide Joseph was amazing, I highly recommend him! The view is also stunning and the place offers many activities from hiking to horse riding. Travellers must count on some traffic around Addis, but the long ride is definitely worth the experience especially with such an extraordinary guide like Joseph.

We had an amazing time - Joseph was a fantastic guide- caring, kind, great with the kids, and full of wonderful information. Caesar was also an incredible driver and helped make everything feel easy. They’re a great team and went above and beyond to get us every experience we wanted (including popcorn for the drive back to the city). I highly recommend this tour and these two young men!

Amazing place--worth the challenge to get there - Aman's excellent guide and driver, both named Joseph, collected us early in the morning from our guest house for the drive to Wenchi Crater. After an authentic Ethiopian coffee stop on the way, we turned off onto the 30km dirt road to Wenchi. We went in the rainy season, and our van got stuck several times. The Aman Tours team coped admirably and made a difficult situation into a true African travel experience that became our children's highlight of our time in Ethiopia. That said, you may wish to take a 4x4 if you go in the rainy season and want a more predictable trip. Once we got the Wenchi, the experience was amazing. It's a stunningly beautiful place, and we rode horses down into the crater and then took a boat to the island monastery in the lake with 14th century paintings. We stopped on the way back for a very authentic and tasty Ethiopian dinner. Altogether it was a truly amazing experience!

Awesome view and nature - The long drive was worth the trip! The countryside along the drive, the view on the way down and the nature around is just awesome and nothing I would have expected in Ethiopia. Joseph, our guide, and Noah our driver are both very nice people. Joseph knows a lot about what you see and makes almost every wish come true, you just have to name it. Noah made us feel safe all the way there and back. We preferred hiking down and up instead of riding the horses. Unbelievable for our guides. ;) We enjoyed the good hike, but it's not something for everyone. We would have loved to stay a little longer and to enjoy the quietness and the impressive nature. Go see the Wenchi Crater Lake, it's worth it.
