Very nice discovery - Great place, quiet and peaceful. We enjoyed a guided tour of the castle and gardens by the Owner herself. How lucky!

To visit! - Very nice estate to visit! We stayed just over 2 hours and did everything. The castle was very well redone and the few touches of modernity and humor were very appreciated. It might be worth adding small explanatory signs in the rooms for more details and the trails should be clearer and better signposted to avoid thinking one is lost 😂. The area in general is definitely worth visiting we enjoyed!

Magnificent visit with a but. . . - We visited this castle in June 2017 and we really enjoyed this visit. We visited it again to see its evolution and we were not disappointed, both the exteriors which are wonderful and the interior of the castle. You have to take your time, look, wander around. . . the staff at reception, the ticket office or at the small snack bar are very pleasant and eager to explain. We put very good and not excellent because of certain prices of the snacks which seemed really very expensive to us e.g. coffee 5 euros, a canned niçoise salad (good) not from the region made near Amiens in price of 17 euros (other products from the region are offered) for two people / 2 entry tickets, 2 niçoise salads and a coffee (16x2) + (17x2) +5 = 71 euros. We will definitely come back because we loved the setting of Château Gaillard, but with our sandwiches. We highly recommend a visit to this castle.

Beautifully restored house - Nice house. Beautifully restored and nicely decorated. Super nice staff and great gardens. We just wanted to see the house. You'll be through in 25 minutes. Which is very unfortunate that everything is only explained in French. Especially for €16 entrance Do you expect with gen that there are more languages available.

Castle Gaillard - All the other castles in the area are much more accessible than here. - This week I saw a lot of them between Blois and Tours. As a wheelchair user, I must always inquire in advance if anything is accessible. When I visit a castle, I certainly do not expect it to be fully accessible, and I do not mind. I have a positive attitude, so I look forward to what is possible. In fact, I enjoyed almost everything, even though the weather was not mild every day and I had to regularly face heavy rain showers. Château Gaillard is widely accessible and the first floor was also accessible via a small ramp. Unfortunately, this was certainly not the case. To reach the castle, you must first take a long gravel road with large loose gravel. It's almost impossible, especially in the rain. Then it is very badly indicated where to enter. Fortunately we met a gardener who showed us the right door. There is no one inside to ask for anything and the castle is nothing very special. The slope outside is impossible to use in a wheelchair, even with a lot of help. Other visitors also found that the slope was not only impossible, but even dangerous! Because of bad weather, I didn't even look at the garden and wanted to leave as soon as possible. I noticed that the alleys of the garden were covered with the same horrible gravel. I have no problem paying an entrance fee. It is precisely these types of places that need revenue to continue to exist. A discount is generally available to wheelchair users and their attendants. At Château Gaillard, the reduced rate for the wheelchair user and his companion was only € 2 less. That's a bad thing. All the other castles I visited had a discount proportional to what you can see. Every other place I was offered better service. Moreover, they have been honest about what is accessible and what is not. And it is precisely the latter that I think it is important to share. I quickly forgot the paid admission, but the bad experience will remain in my memory for a while.

Don’t waste your time - Give this a pass definitely. It is a joke to charge any money even for €1. Waste of time. Not worth at all. Walking along the river is better than going inside this run down place.

Don’t waste your time - Very disappointing. Not much to the chateau, and the grounds were merely okay. We were fortunate to receive our information at the ticket office from a lovely woman who was quite helpful, especially since my French isn’t fluent, and she spoke English. When we left, we popped in to say goodbye to her but she wasn’t there. The man who took her place was being very rude to a group of English speakers and said he couldn’t help them and didn’t speak English…but he DID. We heard him speak to others. The signs in the chateau are only in French, also, so if you aren’t French, you’re made to feel unwelcome here, but they happily take your money.

Absolute rip-off - This place is a joke - they charge 16euros for sight of a few rooms inside this restored chateau, filled with apparently random antiques. There is a small, boring garden and then acres of featureless woodland. We did the inside in 15 mins and the small garden in about 15 mins more. How they have the cheek to charge a similar ticket price as to chateaus such as Chenonceau, Chambord etc defies belief. They also have a rip-off 'juice bar' charging at least 8euros for a juice and 9euros for a tea. I was so disgusted that I asked for a refund at the ticket office, but the woman just laughed and refused. There are much much better places to go in the area than here.
