Lempuyang Temple - Known as “The Gateway to Heaven,” this mountain temple is a must-visit for those seeking the most Instagrammable spots in Bali. Situated 600 meters above sea level on the slopes of Mount Lempuyang in east Bali, the “Gateway” offers a stunning backdrop of Mount Agung. You’ll feel like you’re reaching for the sky, surrounded by clouds and breathing in the cool, humid air (remember to cover your shoulders).
Tirta Gangga - Meaning “Blessed Water of Ganges,” this water palace was designed by Anak Agung Anglurah Ketut Karangasem, the last ruling King of Karangasem and a notable canal engineer, in 1948. Tirta Gangga was created to enhance the sanctity of the spring water and to provide a place for contemplation, relaxation, and enjoyment. The 1.2-hectare palace features ponds, plants, and sculptures that blend Balinese and Chinese styles. The stepping stones and fountain are the main attractions, but you can also swim in the holy pond and feed the fish for a perfect photo and relaxation.
Ujung Water Palace - A sister palace to Tirta Gangga, also commissioned by the last King of Karangasem, located just a few kilometers away. Taman Soekasada Ujung offers a peaceful and serene atmosphere where you can wander through the grounds or take Instagram-worthy photos among the flowers, royal buildings, and marble ruins. Spiritually, this water palace was built near the shore to channel solar energy from the ocean to the land.
Asah Hill - A newly discovered attraction situated on a hill between Candidasa and Tirta Gangga, offering a breathtaking view of the Bali Sea. This hidden gem provides a panoramic view of the deep blue ocean, especially striking at midday.
Virgin Beach - Aptly named “Virgin” or “White Sand,” this beach stands out for its tranquility compared to other nearby spots in Bali. Here, you can capture views of banana forests, Mount Agung, and the pristine waters of the eastern Bali sea. Eastern part of Bali has always been known to be the home of some of the most sacred buildings given the fact of its deep history as the seat of many ancient Balinese kingdoms from thousand of years ago. As a remote region you’ll find more tranquil spots & fresher air here compared to the highly-modernized southern part of Bali. However, due to the distance, you’ll need to be prepared to go early before dusk.
