Qasr Al-Harranah - Continue to “Qasr Al-Kharanah,” a commanding two-level fortress set in a vast plain. Believed to be built on Roman foundations, this intriguing castle showcases a rich blend of Mesopotamian, Arabic, and Greek architectural styles.
Quseir Amra - Quseir Amra is one of East Jordan’s most renowned castles. Once a hunting lodge for the Umayyads, this beautifully restored structure features 8th-century frescoes depicting scenes of revelry with nude women, wine, and festivities.
The Citadel - Jabal al-Qala is one of Amman’s seven hills, historically serving as the seat of power for the Ammonians, followed by the Greeks, Romans, and Byzantines, until the Islamic conquest in the 7th century AD, when the Umayyad Palace was constructed atop it. Mount Qalaa in Amman became the capital of the Ammonians.
Roman Theatre - The Roman Amphitheatre is located in the eastern part of Amman, at the base of Mount Jufa, opposite Amman Castle. Greek inscriptions on one of the pillars indicate that this amphitheatre was built in honor of Emperor Antonius Pius, who visited Amman in 130 AD.
