It was built as a memorial for the late King Abdullah I. The Blue Mosque, as it is popularly known is an elite example of Islamic architecture. It can house up to 3000 worshippers. The cavernous, octagonal prayer hall is capped by a magnificent blue dome 35 meters in diameter, decorated with “Qur’anic” inscriptions. This is the only mosque in Amman that openly welcomes non-Muslim visitors. Free time to pray then proceed with your pilgrimage tour.
