Westerkerk - Constructed between 1620 and 1631 in Renaissance style, the Westerkerk was designed by architect Hendrick de Keyser (1565-1621), who is interred in the earlier church he designed, the ‘Zuiderkerk’. The building was completed by his son Pieter de Keyser (1595-1676) and inaugurated on June 8, 1631. The church measures 58 meters in length and 29 meters in width, with a high nave flanked by two lower aisles. The three-aisled basilica features a rectangular plan with two transepts of equal size, forming two connected Greek crosses.
