A tasting adventure - This was my first time doing a food tour and I had no idea on what to expect. The group was small, seven participants with Sebastian leading us through Amsterdam showing us the insider view of the city. We tried the ubiquitious stroopwafel, but not just from any stand. We went to a family run store, that had artwork on the walls that was centuries old. Next stop was another family owned business, where we had coffee and Dutch apple pie, which in truth was more like a cake, at least to me! Next up on the menu was the herring and kibbeling , both of which really surpised me, so tasty and fresh. We continued walking and eating for about four hours, tasting stampot, sausages and bitterballen. The tour wasn't just about the food. We went and viewed one of the oldest hofjes in Amsterdam, with it's peaceful courtyard and an ancient wooden house, entered a hidden chapel, garnered insight into soccer culture, learned why it's actually a good thing that the houses lean outwards slightly and why some bike tires are blue. At the end of the morning, all of us were quite full not just from the food but from everything we had learned. Sebastian was enaging, funny and gave us a great overview of Dutch food and culture. Thank you!

The tour is entertaining, informative and tasty. Highly recommended!! - The three-and-a-half-hour food tour with Carolina is a must-experience when visiting Amsterdam!! Her knowledge, warmth, and witty comments when sharing stories about the tasty food and history of the areas are very engaging. Put it on your to-do list when traveling through The Netherlands.

Delicious and charming food tour - We loved this fun little food tour. We sampled the quintessential Dutch foods, stroopwaffles, apple pie, herring, fried cod (kibbeling), stampot, sausage and bitterballen. Of course you can get these anywhere in Amsterdam but our guide Sebastian took us to family run businesses, where the artwork on the walls was centuries old, or the herring was so fresh. He gave us insight into soccer culture, told us about the history of the areas, showed us a secluded courtyard and a hidden chapel, enlightened us as to why the houses lean and all in all gave us a great morning of delicious food and company.

Perfect and relaxed way to get to know the real Amsterdam. - The tour was magnificent. The combination of getting to know the other Amsterdam and to know more about the local food and snacks is very nice. It is so nice to see Carolina knows all local people from the center and Jordaan so well and as everybody loves her, hence you really have the feeling you get in contact with the real Amsterdam locals. The combination of history and food and snacks is a relaxed way to get to know the city. It doesn’t happen that often we have such a passionate and knowledgeable guide. Thank you Devour Tours

Great guide….but… - While I did like our guide (Carolina), I think that comparatively versus the other food tours we’ve been on, I cannot give this one 5 stars. The Pros: Carolina knows the city history as well as the food VERY well. Stores are close together, so the walking isn’t excessive, and all shops are locally owned. The Cons: Portion sizes seemed small. We actually went out for more food immediately after. There was also limited balance between sweet and savory food, and it felt like locations being close was more important than food. Our favorite tours did more transit, even trams and metros, in order to get the best foods all into one tour. This seemed limited by comparison.
