Highlights
  • Waterland - This tour takes place in the Waterland region, north from Amsterdam. Hop on and ride your bike through this gorgeous area of the typical polder landscapes and farmlands below sea level.
  • Durgerdam - Ride your bike through old fishermen villages and learn about water management and how the Dutch manage to live below sea level.
  • Holysloot - We are halfway through the tour when we arrive in Holysloot, a tiny farmer’s village in the middle of the countryside. Time for a break at the love restaurant ‘het Schoolhuis’, in the former school of the village. The apple pie served here is world famous in the area and great fuel for the rest of our tour!
  • Ransdorp - You will learn about the interesting history of the 80-years war between Holland and Spain and see the tower of Ransdorp, the oldest building in the area.
  • Krijtmolen d’Admiraal - What would a countryside tour in Holland be without seeing a windmill? Indeed! At the end of our tour you will pass by this gorgeous windmill from 1792 and learn about the old mill industry of Holland.

Additional Information

We are proud to be Amsterdam’s smallest bike tour company! The number of participants per group is limited and we guarantee you to be in a group of no more than 12 people. This ensures a fun, safe, and high-quality bike tour.

Our countryside bike tour (total distance: 30 km / 18 miles) is a great break away from the city. On this leisurely bike ride, you will learn about Dutch history and our ongoing battle against the water. The beautiful landscapes lie below sea level, which you will see with your own eyes while riding your bike over the embankments that keep our feet dry.

We’ll be passing picturesque farmers’ and fishermen’s villages and see the big five of Holland on this Dutch safari. (cows, cows, cows, cows, cows) ;)
Halfway through the tour, we enjoy a relaxing break to hydrate and taste the world’s best slice of apple pie in the picturesque village of Holysloot. This is the perfect fuel to keep us going and head to our favorite windmill in the region: a monument from 1792!

Perfect morning in the Amsterdam countryside - Great tour with William. Beautiful ride out into the country, we saw so many different birds, and William shared a lot of history of the area. Nice stop mid way for apple pie. William gave lots of good biking tips/etiquette and we felt very comfortable on the bikes. I would definitely recommend this tour to anyone coming to Amsterdam.

Fantastic experience! - Fantastic way to get out of the busy city and explore gorgeous scenery on a bicycle! We took our 12yo who loved it, especially the stop for Dutch apple pie. Our guide Julie was absolutely wonderful and took really good care of our son, especially when riding through the city to get to the ferry. Highly recommend!!

Lovely countryside family ride led by Sumi - Our family of 6 (3 adults, 3 children ages 12, 10, 6 years) had a wonderful time on our private countryside tour with Sumí. It was the perfect activity for us on our last day of 8 weeks traveling. We were glad for the quietness of the countryside after escaping the city crowds by a short ferry ride. Perfect weather, learned a lot of history, and Sumí was knowledgeable and very kind. We stopped for delicious apple pie and it was well paced. We never felt rushed or stalled. Our 6 year old rode tandem and the older boys easily handled the ride as it was all flat.

Great countryside bike tour - William was our guide, and he was wonderful. Good story telling, great sense of humor and a very easy going personality. Country side ride was pleasant and relaxing with a stop half way at a county side restaurant. My husband and I had the Dutch apple pie with vanilla ice cream- delicious. If you want to get out of the busy city for a half day, I highly recommend this tour with William.

Great way to see Amsterdam Noord - Highly recommend. There were 13 people in the group which was a good size. We rode a bit thru the city and then to Amsterdam Noord which was beautiful. Going thru the countryside was great fun! Jasper was a good guide. One rider got a flat tire and our group was all surprised that he wasn’t carrying a spare tube and pump. He had to ride back to the village and get another bike. The participant had to walk to the next stop. We were curious what would have happened had we not been close to our next stop.

Could’ve been a better experience - I’ll start off by saying the landscape that we rode through was really incredible. I’m so glad we explored the countryside because it has a different beauty to it than the city. The apple pie is also really good! However, the tour guide we had really ruined a lot of the experience. Willem kept stopping abruptly, causing several people to crash into each other. Even worse, he made several sexist comments that made my friends and me feel very uncomfortable. I think this would’ve been a 5 star experience with another tour guide, but Willem’s behavior really ruined the experience for us.
