Fancy a lovely boat ride appreciating traditional Dutch buildings along the renowned Herengracht canal? Feeling peckish? Pause at a roadside stand for some genuine Dutch treats, drop by a local restaurant or explore a food market.
Within a day of your booking, we’ll send you a brief questionnaire to gather insights on your temperament and hobbies. Based on your answers, we’ll team you up with a compatible host. This host will touch base with you to suggest an itinerary that introduces you to the city’s authentic charm. You will also agree on a time and place to start your journey. Remember, your itinerary is adaptable so you can modify what you wish to explore on the fly.
- We’ll be in touch within 24 hours after booking to find out more about your personality and interests so we can assign a like-minded local who can create a bespoke experience for you.
- Your Local Host will communicate with you directly to suggest an itinerary and agree a meeting time and place. Your itinerary is flexible, so during the experience you can always change your mind about what you want to do.

Great personalized tour - This was a personalized walking tour of the old part of Amsterdam. Wendy met all our requests and tailored the trip to our interests. She walked at a good pace for us and her English was excellent. If you’re unfamiliar with the city this is a great way to get to know it.

An Afternoon in Amsterdam - What a great experience! Luckily we had Anna as our guide for the 4 hour walking tour. She is amazing. She has options regarding what exactly we wanted for the experience and was very flexible if we found something we wanted to spend a little more time on. We wanted to see more of the hidden gems” and she delivered. She was gracious, knowledgeable and passionate about her adopted city. We learned a lot about the history, economy and culture and she also kept us safe from the cyclists when I mistakenly wandered onto the bike lane :)
We had the best time, a perfect afternoon. I would highly recommend Anna and this tour. She tailors it to your wants and your pace. We will book another tour with her when we make it back to Amsterdam.

Unforgettable Experience: Exploring Amsterdam with Anna - We lucked out with Anna, our local guide. She really knew her stuff and showed us around the city like she'd been our friend for years. She was super attentive to what we wanted to see and do, making the whole experience feel like catching up with an old buddy. Anna was informative, professional, and just downright caring. We won't forget her anytime soon and you can bet we'll be hitting her up next time we're in town.

Jan was great! - Jan was a great guide. Gave us lots of historical information and showed us some interesting places, including the best place to get a stroopwaffle off the beaten path. Encouraged and answered all our questions. Would do again in a heartbeat as ima ire there is more to see!

Unrivaled Experience - My first trip to Amsterdam was for business and lasted only a few days. For this second trip I wanted to make sure I experienced more of what Amsterdam has to offer. Especially since on this occasion I would be celebrating my birthday.
I have used City Unscripted before and chose to use them again because I certainly enjoy the 1:1 nature and personalization they put into their tours. On this instance I chose a Beer Tasting tour and I was matched with Alan for a 3 hour excursion. Given the purpose of my visit it definitely felt it appropriate tailoring my tour around beer but Alan made it far more than that. He truly went above and beyond the description of the tour I purchased. While there was beer along the way as I requested, Alan masterfully crafted in all the historical anecdotes, stories of Amsterdam's past, and more importantly hidden gems a larger group tour could never afford you.
Our day together took me to some of Amsterdam's most charming brown pubs and introduced me to the magic that is cheese dipped in mustard. We sipped on some of the finest beer I've tasted together with shots of Geneva. More importantly I experienced life as a native in one of Europe's most vibrant cities.
Alan was truly a joy to spend the day with and his guidance is unrivaled. If you are looking for a guide reading notes off of a sheet and speaking to you like a teacher reading from a textbook, don't call Alan. If you are looking to experience Amsterdam with a friend, look no further.

Worth every second, every penny, every very rain drop! - Anna was amazing! She gave me exactly what I was looking for. I wanted to see the things I couldn’t find in Google or tour guides. The unique details of architecture and neighborhoods, the merchant/commerce history of Amsterdam, The Begijnof. And The Van Stapele!! Which we waited in line for only 4 min! I highly recommend the private tour, and Anna’s love and enthusiasm for this beautiful and wonderful city.
