• Zaanse Schans - Head north from Amsterdam to explore the charming old village of Zaanse Schans, an operational open-air museum. The picturesque drive from Amsterdam will take you through fields with farmhouses and grazing animals.
  At Zaanse Schans, admire the stunning historical windmills and discover the workings of a paint pigment mill and a wood saw mill. Although there were once over 600 windmills in the Zaanstreek, only a few remain today. Witness clog makers in action at the workshop and learn about the history of wooden shoes at the museum.
• Cheese Factory Volendam - Following Zaanse Schans, visit a cheese farm to understand the Dutch cheese-making process and enjoy a tasting session. A highlight of the farm is observing Jersey cows and calves roaming the farm and watching cows being milked by a robotic machine.
• Volendam - Volendam is a quintessential Dutch fishing village, and a stroll along De Dijk and through the harbor area is sure to delight. Another tour stop is Woltjes Backerij, where you can experience life in the 19th century and see how stroopwafels were made. If staying for lunch, the freshly caught fish is highly recommended.
• Marken - The third stop on the tour is Marken, a village that was once an island in the Markermeer, now a peninsula. Travel between Marken and Volendam by boat, enjoying a scenic 30-minute journey across the Ijsselmeer.
