The museum encapsulates vital turnings of art and design through the works of both national and international artists and designers who have profoundly influenced the progression of art in the past, present, and future.

Interesting and calm - One of the museums on Museumplein, the museum area, which is so helpful in Amsterdam when it rains. Despite the ticket prices. €22.50. It is not a very crowded museum and the visit is very pleasant. You have to have around two hours to do it. It is worth the visit because it exhibits recognized works of great interest, painting, photography, furniture design and the most current works of modern art, with a large space dedicated to performances. In the permanent collection something by Picasso, Matisse, Van Gogh, Kandinsky, Chagall, Cézanne, Malevich,...

A successful spontaneous visit - It was a successful spontaneous visit to the Stedelijk museum. Large areas with interesting art, where much focus was on social injustices. Was happy to see a painting by Jackson Pollock.

A disappointing collection and visitor experience. - There is little logic to the layout of the galleries and signage is confusing. The audio guide uses older technology and the commentaries do not relate to specific works of art.

Left uninspired and bored. - The labelling of artwork was difficult to follow and find especially for work on central tables/plinths. The English translated exhibition text was weakly written, for example saying that Picasso’s and Matisse’s treatment of concubines was done in a different and less controversial way was a weak unsupported argument in the colonial room. Lots of unknown artist made for an overwhelming visit. I have recently been to the MACBA in Barcelona and the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation in Lisbon there the artwork was better curated and this made for a far superior and enjoyable experience.

Unscheduled visit? You are not welcome! - Coming to a museum is humiliating and annoying. You have lost the right to buy a ticket on the spot. I understand you do not want to accept cash anymore but why don't you provide ticket vending machine? You come to the museum, there are quite a lot of employees (one in information office, two that scan the tickets), but you have to stand there, take out your smart phone and buy the ticket online with other losers. You have to fill in too many information, pay and then wait for the e-mail because the ticket does not show up on the screen of your mobile phone after the purchase. As our e-mail provider has some safety delay times, you stand in the entrance hall, staring to your phone, waiting for the email to come... You paid and you stand there, humiliated... Guess what is your mood before entering (and often, when you go to a gallery in a group, not anyone is excited about going there, this introduction is not helping at all...).

Racists!! - We were turned away at the door because we had a Palestinian flag in our hands (demonstration). We had to put the flag away before we were allowed in! Shameful, this is a free country. Boycott this museum!!!

Overpriced - €22.50 for adult admission is disgustingly expensive for entrance when you compare to the likes of the Tate Modern in London which is free to access and has a much superior collection

Nothing unmissable - I recommend visiting only if you are passionate about modern art. The ticket price is too high for the proposal offered.
