Highlights
  • Canakkale - Begin your journey with a pick-up from your hotel or the cruise port in Canakkale, followed by a brief ferry ride across the Dardanelles, transitioning from Asia to Europe.
  • Gallipoli National Park - Start your day by exploring the Helles sector, the primary focus of the Allied landings on April 25. This area remained the main battlefront until August, with British and French forces, including Australian and New Zealand troops, confronting the bulk of the Ottoman Army. The last Allied soldiers left the sector in early 1916. Key sites visited in this part of the tour include Namazgah Battery, Rumeli Mecidiye Battery, Turkish Monument, V Beach, Helles Memorial, Lancashire Landing Cemetery, and Twelve Trees Copse Cemetery.
  • Gallipoli National Park - After a lunch break, head to the Anzac sector of the Gallipoli peninsula to visit Anzac Cove, Anzac Commemorative Site, Ariburnu Cemetery, The Sphinx, Lone Pine Australian Memorial, Johnston’s Jolly tunnels and trenches, and Chunuk Bair New Zealand Memorial.
  • Eceabat - Conclude your day with unforgettable memories and return to your hotel or cruise port in Canakkale via a delightful ferry ride. If you are staying in Eceabat, the ferry ride is not necessary.

Everything I asked for and more as a military history hobbyist - Fantastic day - I asked for a tour concentrating on military history and walking the battlegrounds of Helles and Anzac sectors, whilst also visiting the most important cemeteries and memorials, and everything about the day more than met my expectations. Charlie was an excellent, friendly and knowledgeable guide with fluent English. Could I have done it for myself? Maybe, with a car, maps, literature and at least 2 days… but even then I’d have missed out on the fascinating and revealing discussions of Turkish life, culture, food, language, etc, etc that added a great deal to the experience My wife, who had no particular prior interest in the subject, also found the day interesting and rewarding, and is inspired to do more battlefields! Obviously this is picking the most expensive option - but it was worth every penny, and I also felt that all the off the shelf tours on offer hereabouts are understandably pitched at the general tourist rather than the military history geek who really wants to understand the terrain etc Highly recommended
