Named by National Geographic as one of 20 dream hikes on their World Best Hikes list, this stunning trek takes you past ancient Inca ruins and through traditional Andean villages such as Chillipahua and the trail’s namesake Ancascocha (3,700 m/12,136 ft).

Here you may briefly share the trail with farmers, shepherds and their livestock tending to their daily lives, so far removed from the tourist crowds of Cusco.

Ancascocha Trek - Our experience on the Ancascocha trek was AMAZING! We booked this trip through Action Peru and they were very professional. The trek passes many Inca ruins, small villages, lakes and also offers a trek in one small portion of the Classic Inca Trail to Machu Picchu. This is definitely one of the best treks to do in Peru and still off the beaten path. Our guide was Christian and he was brilliant. We loved our experience with this company!!

5D/4N Ancascosha Trek - Thank you for ActionTrekPeru for providing this team of Edison the guide, Oscar the 19 year old horseman and Super Mario the Chef! They took care of me the entire time. Edison helped and adjusted according to my skill level. The rest of the team made sure I was taken care of and nourished. A perfect combo. This company whole heartedly treats their team right. I had the pleasure to have some time with their boss Roxner who might be one of the only owners who speaks the native tongue of Quechua. This provides a deeper connection to the Andean people that works for him. He believes treating his employees like family and that’s a philosophy I can always support.

A most amazing adventure! - The whole experience was amazing. We were looking for serenity, adventure and spirituality and the tour provided all in spades. Everything worked out like clockwork. We are better while trekking than when we were in Cusco. I will be back next year for another trek, likely Salkantay, and I would highly recommend this company to anyone visiting Peru!

Highly recommended Classic Inca Trail 4 day hike - Our group of 4 friends completed the 4 day Classic Inca Trail with Action Peru Treks. We had our guide Lino, two chefs and 7 porters accompany us throughout the 4 days. Lino our guide was amazing. He was extremely passionate and shared so much information about the Incan culture with us throughout the hike. Every meal he would sit with us and tell us stories and play cards. It genuinely felt like a family towards the end of the trip. The two chefs surprised us each and every meal, serving buffet style traditional Peruvian food which were not only delicious, but also impressive that we could be eating these amazing meals while camping in the mountains. All the porters who accompanied us were extremely helpful and nice. The feat of hiking up those mountains with 25kg on their backs is truly impressive, topped only by the fact that they did it all with a smile on their faces. This trip was genuinely so much more than we could have imagined and we wanted to give a massive thank you to Lino and the rest of the team at Action Peru Treks. Cannot recommend this company enough. They are locally owned and operated and really put porter wellbeing, health and safety front of mind and focus on allowing participants to really immerse themselves in the Incan culture. Cannot wait to book another trip with them soon!!

Ancacsocha Trek to Machu Picchu - I went back to Perú recently for business and I also opted to hike again to Machu Picchu via the Ancacsocha Trail which is a wild area above the Sacred Valley of the Incas. This is an amazing Trail but also a very demanding trek due to the altitude. Thank you Action Perú Team for great second experience in Perú 🙂

A jaw dropping experience - Hi, I feel obliged to share my thoughts about my experience. So others can make the right decision too. We decided to do the 4 days Classic Inka Trail with Action Peru Treks based on a recommendation and some research. We did the Classic 4 Inka Trail as part of our longer 17 days visit in Peru and were completely inexperienced in the topic - as I imagine most of you are. We had a lot of questions and doubts. I recommend you to reach out to them with any doubts you have they are very responsive and super helpful. Their website is also very informative. So let's see what the experience is like. We had a briefing just the day before we started the trek. Edison, one of our two great guides, came to our hotel to talk us through what to expect. He's very knowledgeable, helpful and has a warm personality. We had a good chat about all important things and left no question unanswered. Our excitement grew even more. We knew we were in good hands. They picked us up on time with a few more guys (we already knew who was coming with us (10 ppl all together) so it was no surprise either. The great journey began. Throughout the whole 4 days Christian And Edi were always around to tell us some stories about the sites we visit, the nature around us, the Quechua culture, or even their own life that came into the topic. They all did their best to make our journey through this unbelievably wonderful and challenging trip. For me and one of my friends day-two (climbing up to Dead Woman's pass) was very hard but hey didn't give up on us. Both helped us to best ourselves and stay safe. Thanks for that again guys! The rest of the journey - for me - was just a joy. We had a lot of fun, deep talks and lots of jokes with the guys. And I'm very grateful to Christian for making our trip such an experience. But of course the whole company did a brilliant job to support and pamper us. I have to say we became friends with Christian Peña our lead guide. Such a great guy! :) I can't recommend them enough! Guys, Action Peru Treks is an amazing choice! Thank you guys a lot! :)

Once in a Lifetime Experience Made Even Better By Our Two Guides Christian and Eddy - Action Peru Treks has it dialed in! We showed up not really knowing what to expect and they treated us like royalty. In my opinion, the guides make the experience, and Christian and Eddy did an amazing job connecting with each guest, sharing insightful history about the trail, and also cracking jokes with all of us along the way. Everyone in our 11-person group (8 of the people I did not know) had a smile on their face the whole time and we were all so sad to leave once it was over. Would highly recommend choosing Action Peru Treks.

This is the one - The 4 day 3 night trek to Machu Picchu with Action Peru was an amazing experience, I wouldn’t go with any other tour group if I were to do it again. I don’t think there would have been any better tour guides than Lino and Ed for my group. They were cool, extremely knowledgeable, and matched our crew’s energy. They know all the best spots to rest, use the bathroom, and take photos. Our guides made our trek feel one of a kind. The cooks far exceeded our expectations. They cooked 5-6 course meals for every meal. I legit had one of the best guacamoles in my life. I saw some of the meals the other tour companies were eating and just by looking I could tell that ours were the best! Super impressive considering all of it was cooked in a portable kitchen with limited resources. I couldn’t cook better than them even with a fully stock professional kitchen. The porters put the team on their back… literally. Seeing them pass us on the trails while hauling all of the camping equipment and gear was a sight to see. I have so much respect for them. Helpful tips: bring more toilet paper than you need, wet wipes, small towels, water proof shells, and acclimate in cusco for a few days. Oh yeah, most of the bathrooms on the trail are not great to say the least. Lotta porcelain holes in the floor. Full squat and aim well so your poop goes directly in the hole and open the stall door and take a step out before you flush… the water gets everywhere… and I mean everywhere. All in all, I highly recommend going through Action Peru for the Machu Picchu trek. This tour company supports a lot of the local communities. For example, they’ll use ingredients from the local farms for our meals. Also, one of our guides said that this company supports their workers moreso than the others. Like they’ll provide support for their workers’ education.
