Highlights
  • Alaska Native Heritage Center - During your visit you will experience Alaska Native dancing, compelling Native Games demonstrations and Village Site tours. You will stroll through six authentic life-sized Native dwellings situated in a wooden area around beautiful Lake Tiulana. One of our Culture Bearers will introduce you to the traditional lifeways of the Inupiaq, St. Lawrence Island Yupik, Athabascan, Eyak, Haida, Tsimshian, Tlingit, Unangax, Alutiiq/Sugpiaq, Yupik, and Cup’ik peoples. - Ch’k’iqadi Gallery - Our re-imagined gift shop focuses exclusively on the sales of authentic Alaska Native arts. Ch’k’iqadi is a Dena’ina Athabascan word meaning “things we buy” and at the Gallery, you have the opportunity to buy art, jewelry and more from talented Alaska Native artists representing all regions and cultures of Alaska. This is a must do activity for the whole family. - We were lucky to walk with Aria and we learned a lot from her. The whole place was wonderful with the performers and craft people selling hand made items.

Alaska Native Center - Full of history and notions about the populations, who have lived in the state of Alaska. The view around the small lake is really spectacular.

Rich Heritage Experience - We enjoyed learning about native Alaskan peoples and their way of life. We were able to get a guided tour, which lasted about 70 minutes, and watched a cultural dance and drum performance.

Informative, interesting and important place - My family (two adults and two teens) visited recently- and what a wonderful place this is. We appreciated the opportunity to learn more about indigenous Alaskan communities. The exhibits were really beautiful and informative. The building structures were fascinating- so much knowledge of how to survive & thrive in unique and challenging climates. This was an essential part of our family trip for sure- very highly recommended!

Go early! - A good experience except we missed the last official tour for the day and the shuttle wasn't running back to town, later in the day, when we visited. We enjoyed the Native Games and Native Dance sessions. Disappointed the 4.00 Introduction to Alaska Native Cultures didn't happen.

Nice environment, interesting dress code - Being a visiting native from California, me and another friend wanted to come and appreciate Alaska Native culture. The place was beautiful however my friend pointed out a young man’s attire and he was wearing a belt buckle that is a mockery of Native American culture. We wanted to ask other staff but they all seemed young and we were too unsure at the time to ask any of them if they thought that attire was appropriate considering where he worked.
