- Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center - Visitors to the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center will encounter a diverse array of Alaskan wildlife. Many of the animals here have been rescued and are housed in exhibits that mimic their natural habitats, providing ample space for them to roam. Often, they are close to the fences and walkways, offering fantastic photo opportunities. The center is home to black and brown bears, moose, muskox, bison, deer, and elk, as well as foxes, coyotes, an eagle, and wolves. It’s an excellent place to observe and learn about Alaskan wildlife from the safety of the facility!
- Portage Glacier - Experience a unique opportunity to view salmon when they are running, typically visible in the clear streams and rivers of Portage Creek from May to September. If the salmon are not in season, enjoy a pleasant walk along the boardwalk while soaking in the breathtaking scenery.
- Byron Glacier Trail - Enjoy a beautiful and scenic 30-minute hike along a well-maintained trail. Along the way, there may be sightings of Bald Eagles, Moose, and other local wildlife. The trail leads to the base of Byron Glacier, where glacial ice and possibly caves can be found. (Please note that caves may vary with the seasons, so sightings are not guaranteed.)
