Essential surfing gear like a soft beginner’s board and a wetsuit are provided.

Drive along the Great ocean Road into Anglesea. Cross the bridge over the river, and along beside the river for about 500 meters when the road takes a sharp turn to the right before going up the hill. See the Go Ride A Wave shop in the group of shops on the corner. Take a U Turn into the car park.

Best surf lesson - We had a great private surf lesson with Oa from Go ride a wave. She was amazing teaching our two boys at 8 and 9 years to surf and gave them their best experience ever. It was their first time surfing and she was a 100 % invested dragging them and their boards out to the waves and helping them onto the boards. She even taught them tricks and they are now hooked on surfing. Our boys speak little English being from Denmark but Oa made them feel very safe and brave in the water and they totally understood each other anyway. Thanks 😍

Awesome two hours - Great two hours! Our Instructors Charlotte and the guy (sorry didn’t get his name! started with D!) were excellent, they move around the group and give everyone one on one time and seemed genuinely pleased when someone did well. Will defo be doing this again

Great instructors - Despite picking one of the worst weather days for surfing, the instructors did a great job of making it interesting and giving us plenty of guidance. Definitely go with this group if you are in the area.

An old dog learns a new trick - I had a fantastic experience learning to Stand Up Paddleboard today at Anglesea. Joel was not only a fantastic teacher but also very friendly and supportive. I was a bit worried that my only talent might be falling in, but with Joel’s fabulous instruction, patience and support I am able to say YES I can stand up and paddle. It was a great day and I highly recommend Go Ride A Wave. If this 66 year old can do it, anyone can!

Wonderful fun & Oa is a fantastic instructor! - We are complete surfing beginners but we loved this! Partly because surfing is a looooot of fun, and partly because our instructor (called Oa) was fantastic - she really knew what she was talking about, had a great attitude to teaching (and life!), she got in the water with us to give us tips up close, and she also did a mid-lesson "debrief" to point out things she'd noticed that we could work on.
There were 5 of us in the class (my fiancee and I, a friend of ours and another couple we didn't know), which was a great size for learning, and the beach/sea felt also safe here for beginners. We just had a lot of fun, highly recommended :)

Stand up paddle boarding - I was given a voucher for stand up paddle board lesson.
It was fantastic. Joel was my instructor and he was the best! Very informative and relaxed. I had a great time with lots of laughs. Thanks Joel!

Great first surf lesson - My daughter and I had our first surf lesson with instructor Joel. Learned so much, well worth the private lesson. Joel was a great instructor with lots of great advice around surfing techniques and water safety, all done with lots of fun. Highly recommend a visit!

Ride a wave week - The kids had the best week with the ride a wave crew, who made sure each kid had individual 1:1 time to hone their skills asked on age and experience. The crew made each lesson memorable and informative and most of all fun. Highly recommend to do with siblings or friends as a group

Stand up paddle boarding - Cobber was a highly professional, friendly and knowledgable instructor. This was my very first attempt at stand up paddle boarding and I couldn't have asked for a more patient, encouraging and informative instructor. I had so much fun (and managed to maintain my balnce on the board) it was the highlight of my trip.
